**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Parks Division Executive Advisor in the Assistant Deputy Minister’s Office, the Priority Issues Advisor leads action request coordination, contributes to briefing and correspondence materials, coordinates tracking and reporting, liaises with divisional and departmental contacts, and assists the Assistant Deputy Minister and Parks Division Leadership Team in ensuring divisional initiatives and activities are carried out in a timely, coordinated and effective manner. The position functions within a fast paced and dynamic environment, requiring strong organization and prioritization skills, effective communication and efficient approaches. The day-to-day activities of the Issues Advisor are purposefully fluid to be able to react to the most current and pressing issues that arise in the division, department, and/or in Alberta generally.

**Manage and coordinate issues and action requests**
- Works collaboratively with Branch Coordinators and other divisional team members to respond to information requests and ensure action requests are clearly understood, effectively coordinated, and completed in a timely manner.
- Responsible for ensuring consistency, accuracy and quality control related to the preparation and processing of action requests to ensure final draft materials are complete, accurate and on time.
- Develops divisional protocols for issues management to ensure consistency and efficiency in responses.
- Develops and coordinates training for others to foster continuous improvement in issues management across the division.

**Support divisional initiatives and activities**
- Provides advice on issues management approaches, strategic initiatives, and communications planning.
- Tracks major division initiatives and current and long term issues
- Reviews policy packages, strategic engagement plans, and communications strategies in collaboration with the Executive Advisor.
- Participates on project teams to provide strategic advice and track progress.
- Identifies emerging issues and/or concerns for the Parks Division leadership team.

**Build and maintain relationships**
- Communicates and liaises within the organization and externally to ensure important information and understanding are retained.
- Builds rapport and collaborates with staff in the Deputy Minister's office, Assistant Deputy Minister's office, and other divisions within the department.
- Coordinates information requests from various staff members, other government departments, agencies, and stakeholders, as required.

**Education**:

- University undergraduate degree in a related field (natural resource management/recreation/tourism) plus 4 years progressively related experience; or equivalent as described below.

**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

**Additional Requirements**:
