Role Overview

The AEMA Issues Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Deputy Managing Director and the executive team in identifying, assessing, and resolving ongoing and emerging issues within the Government of Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determine the nature and priority of issues, researching and coordinating the assembly of supporting information to inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate with program areas, the Ministry, the Government of Alberta, and partner agencies to ensure the Deputy Managing Director is fully informed and prepared to address ongoing and emergent events.
  • Manage information flow within AEMA to support Agency, Ministry, and Government of Alberta goals and objectives.
  • Supervise the Action Request Tracking System (ARTS) process within the Agency, working closely with the Executive Correspondence Unit, Deputy Minister's Office, Minister's Office, and Premier's Office.
  • In the event of a significant emergency, the Manager will function as the Chief of Staff for the Deputy Managing Director, ensuring the DMD is fully informed and that identified responsibilities are tasked and completed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership, coordination, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously, are essential for success in this role.
