**Job Description**:

Reporting to the Chief Project Officer, North Island Hospitals Project (NIHP) with matrix reporting to the Vice President & Chief Information Officer and the Chief Clinical Information Officer, the Project Director, Information Technology, is responsible for planning, managing, developing, and implementing a variety of technology projects related to the migration and integration of all Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, programs, and systems within the North Island Hospitals Project. The Project Director manages project teams and stakeholders through the project processes associated with initiating, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling and project close out. The Project Director has responsibility for analysis, assessment and documentation of requirements, systems workflow and process redesign activities, coordination of project activities, and the management and maintenance of project plans, schedules, status reports and budgets associated with Information Management/Information Technology (IMIT) related issues and programs.

The Project Director has a special focus in complex technological areas such as infrastructure, hardware, connectivity, and security as they relate to the integration and/or transformation of the Vancouver Island Health Authority's (VIHA) information systems to the NIHP.

The Project Director works collaboratively with other IT teams and Project Managers in VIHA and recognizes the impact that a new design, technology and equipment means for all VIHA users and implements strategies that ensure successful integration of clinical & support services and technologies into practice to enhance efficiencies and quality of care.

The Project Director works collaboratively with Project Co and all associated third party stakeholders ensuring seamless design, development, implementation, and management of all IMIT related programs and systems on behalf of NIHP team.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Health Informatics or a related field and at least five (5) years project management experience in a health care environment.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Project Management Certification (PMP, CAPM, PgMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and/or demonstrated experience in leading and managing large projects in information systems using formal project management processes and techniques.
- Experience with implementing business and process changes in a health care environment and experience with information systems analysis and design procedures and techniques.
- Understanding of VIHA's business, principles and procedures.
- Understanding of infrastructure hardware such as networks, storage, processing, and cabling.
- Familiarity with data centres / server rooms, environmental systems, and security.
- Well developed interpersonal and client relationship skills.
- Effective meeting management skills.
- Supervisory or managerial experience and ability to provide team leadership.
- Knowledge and practice in effective problem solving techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of departments and technical, operational and vendor staff.
- Ability to effectively work with and motivate individuals having different knowledge and skills as well as special interest groups.
- Ability to develop and deliver formal change management practices.
- Excellent presentation, writing and communication skills.
- Excellent listening, coaching, group facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
- Effective operation of computer software and peripheral equipment.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
