**Manager, Facility & Operations**
Established in 1953, The Parkdale Community Association (PCA) is the hub of the community, providing local programming that supports the citizens of Parkdale, including sports teams, family events, social programs and recreational facilities throughout the PCA campus. The PCA has completed Alberta’s first outdoor community rink that has been designed to be inclusive and accessible to all groups. The Parkdale Hub allows for the entire community rink to be accessible, including access from both parking lots to an accessible social area, an accessible building with a dressing room and washrooms, as well as a garage for an ice resurfacer.
**Organizational Structure**:
The Facility & Operations Manager (FOM) reports to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and oversees and supports the operations, maintenance, and security of the PCA campus (main PCA building, the Parkdale Hub and Outdoor Rink facility). The Vice President is the main point of contact for the FOM.
The FOM is responsible for the execution of the PCA Business Plan related to the operations of PCA assets and facilities. This is a part-time position with an average weekly work commitment of 20 - 30 hrs. This may include some evening and/or weekend commitments as it relates to Board approved on-call requirements and events. Salary is commensurate with experience. Residency in the community is considered an asset.
The FOM requires good communication skills, an ability to lead groups, grace, kindness, and flexibility to support the community volunteers.
The FOM manages the PCA office and supervises service providers and maintenance contractors to accomplish the PCA Board’s mandate. The FOM will ensure that PCA resources and facilities are utilized fully, operations run effectively, interact with the PCA’s tenants, assets and facilities are properly maintained and associated risks are identified, mitigated as appropriate and communicated to the Board.
The FOM may attend PCA Board meetings as requested. The FOM will provide operational updates/reports highlighting issues requiring further Board direction. The FOM, supported by the Vice President, shall ensure compliance regarding assets and operations standards and practices to maintain business continuity and satisfy the requirements of various regulatory bodies.
**Summary of Key Responsibilities **(job functions include but are not limited to):
- Responsible for managing the housekeeping of outdoor and indoor public spaces including washrooms, dressing rooms and common spaces. This includes regular heavy cleaning of all spaces.
- Responsible for the managing the timely cleaning, set-up and take down, and routine maintenance of events that occur at the PCA campus.
- Perform non-mechanical maintenance as required to operate the facility.
- Inspect machinery, keep mechanical rooms clean, and assist with other building operations as needed. Coordinate maintenance and cleaning staff when required.
- In the winter season, complete ice maintenance activities, supporting timely and efficient ice floods when the ice rink is operational.
- Effective communication and teamwork with co-workers, and other employees.
- Positive customer service with guests, user groups, and other public.
- Always maintain a professional appearance.
- Carry a communication device at all times and be available to respond to emergency situations as required.
- Work collaboratively with other departments such as Events, Finance and Programming.
- Perform all work with proper safety procedures in mind to ensure a safe environment for yourself and others.
- Ensure the facility equipment is inspected and maintained in an efficient operational order and ready for public and staff use in accordance with all legislation, codes and standards.
- Respond appropriately and report to the PCA Executive and Board of Directors any major maintenance and repair issues.
**Operations**
- Utilize & maintain the PCA Campus Operations and Maintenance Manual. Update yearly as required to incorporate learnings. Prepare, review, revise and make recommendations to safe work procedures and Hazard Identifications
- Participate in On Call responsibilities for the facility and effectively support in the event of a call out or emergency.
- In coordination with Program & Partnerships Manager, develop and review operations schedules and adjust as required.
- Winter operations include ice resurfacer operation, propane refilling, light maintenance duties and flexible schedules to empower our strong volunteer community
