Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is seeking a Project Controls Lead for our Burlington, ON office to support operations for mid-large sized Infrastructure/Transportation projects. This includes developing and managing project control systems and tools to provide effective management of project tasks. Provide support as well as recommendations to Project Managers, Project Teams and Business Unit Management.
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Project/Contract Tracking and Control
- Analysis of project contract documents related to change orders, claims & schedules
- Prepare & submit earned value reports (EVR)
- Review/report cost control, progress monitoring & change order management
- Ensure the accuracy of financial information produced for multiple projects including large multi-tasked or complex projects
- Review and track client invoices; work with PM and billing to correct & finalize invoices and monthly status reports
- Provide project management support in the development/management of the work breakdown structure, activities, logic, resources and progress of the integrated project schedule.
- Provide the Project Management with accurate monthly cost and progress reports incorporating early warning, forecast completions, together with the critical path and trend analyses
- Develop and implement reports of project expenditures
- Develop and evaluate estimating, scheduling, and resource management strategies during the proposal process and project implementation
- Forecast anticipated project completion costs using reports and analyses of financial commitments and project progress evaluations
- Develop, evaluate and implement project control systems, tools and reports
- Monitor client payments; assist in collection activity
- Review project expenses, client invoices, and related accounting transactions
- Act as Liaison between Project team and Area Finance
- Maintain thorough understanding of company policies, procedures, and methodologies relevant to Project Controls, Cost Control, and Planning / Scheduling disciplines
- Responsible for understanding and following the contract, scope of work, schedule, estimate and procurement / contracting plan for the assigned project.
- Coordinate and facilitate project initial planning and schedule development to a resource loaded CPM schedule, and Basis of Schedule.
- Coordinate and development of project coding structures (WBS), Rules of Credit, Progress Report Templates
- Maintain and update the CPM schedule as required by project plan and perform schedule integrity checks
- Implement and maintain Earned Value / Progress Tracking system
- Responsible for compiling Reports to the Client, including Earned Value updates and Schedule updates
- Interact with clients, external consultants, construction and project management, estimators, and team leads
- Identify and share lessons learned to support continuous improvement of project performance and company operations
Skills / Qualifications:
**Education and Experience Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized institution and / or PMI or AACE certification or at 7 years’ of relevant experience
- Basic knowledge of a specialized or technical field such as design management, construction management or project management is an asset
- More than 7 years of experience in performing senior level planning and scheduling experience in an EPCM environment together with related design and construction experience
- Strong oral and written communication as well as inter-personal and presentation skills
- Excellent knowledge of engineering controls, cost control, planning and scheduling, earned value analysis and project reporting
- Knowledge of procurement/contracts, construction management and document control
- Good knowledge of project management software such as Convero, Primavera P6
- Hands on knowledge of schedule risk analysis software such as Primavera Risk analysis would be an asset
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
- Additional experience in estimating, procurement, contract administration, and construction management support would be considered an asset
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
**Physical Requirements**:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and sit. In addition, may require close vision work and travel.
