**Position**:Research Associate**:
Site: The Hospital for Sick Children
- Department: Genetics and Genome Biology- Reports to: Drs. David Malkin and Ran Kafri- Status: 1.0 FTE - 2-year contract- We are seeking a Research Associate to join cancer genetics research team. This multidisciplinary program integrate basic, translational and clinical research in the field of childhood, adolescent and young adult oncology particularly focusing on cancer predisposition and genetic risk. In this role you will be a key member of the SickKids and national teams that bring together experts in clinical care, genomics, proteomics, biomarker analysis, pathology, biobanking, bioinformatics, clinical trials, and patient advocacy. Working under the leadership team's direction, the Research Associate will play a key role in overseeing several projects which harness the power of multi-omic platforms in understanding molecular basis of cancer predisposition.The Research Associate will work closely with the program's lead investigators as well as with trainees in the lab. This position requires requires a proactive and action-oriented individual with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.**KEY TASKS**:

- Develop innovative project ideas within the context of the overall theme of the PIs' research program
- Contribute to research grant writing opportunities
- Lead manuscript writing opportunities
- Develop and lead an independent research project within the framework of the PIs' research program

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- At minimum, completion of a PhD degree program or recognized equivalent in a health
- or science-related discipline.
- Completion of a post-doctoral fellowship in the field of bioinformatics and/or computational biology
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment including active participation in meetings and the ability to work in a team environment
- Proven ability to work with great efficiency, to prioritize tasks effectively, work under pressure and pay attention to detail
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner
