Supervisor, Events and Special Initiatives

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting directly to the Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Design, and in alignment with priorities set by the Dean, the incumbent is responsible for strategic planning and advising on faculty events and supporting special initiatives. As part of the Stakeholder Relations Team, and with HR oversight by the Manager, Academic Support Operations, the position works in close collaboration with Dean’s Office team members, FED’s Associate Deans, the Faculty’s Communications Manager, and the Outreach and Engagement Manager. The incumbent also plans and oversees logistics and special support for Accreditation visits.
The Supervisor, Events and Special Initiatives, supervises the Events Administrator, the Events Assistant, the Women in Engineering and IT Program Administrator, and other staff as needed.
**Qualifications**:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
- Extensive experience in strategic project and event management, specializing in Engineering Accreditation logistics.
- Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills, with a proven track record of successful relationship-building in dynamic environments.
- Proficient in delegation, time management, and budgeting.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong understanding of university structures, combined with superior computer skills, and desirable familiarity with the University’s culture and goals.
- Willingness for occasional overtime, weekend/weeknight work, and travel to events in Ottawa and the Greater Toronto Area.
**Education and Experience**:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- University degree, preferably in communications or marketing. Possession of Certified Meeting Professional designation or formal Event Protocol training is viewed as an asset.
- 7 years of event planning (preferably academic), including 3 years of staff supervision. Experience in Engineering Accreditation is highly desirable.
