Toronto, Canada COSTI Immigrant Services Full time

**Duties**:

- Assesses organisational and programme needs to determine number and range of volunteers needed for particular projects and departments across COSTI
- Consults with colleagues in the various departments and locations to create job descriptions for all volunteer positions
- Prepares orientation materials for new volunteers, including handbooks, programs, and kits
- Presents orientation materials on regular basis to potential volunteers
- Participates in volunteer recruitment events
- Distributes information regarding volunteer policies and procedures
- Regularly meets with both volunteers and staff to assess what is and is not working, collect success stories, resources required, etc.
- Develops and maintains an evaluation framework to measure the impact of the volunteer program
- Meets with volunteers to assess their progress and job satisfaction
- Cultivates a positive and supportive atmosphere by recognizing volunteer efforts and assisting volunteers with their own endeavours
- Supports communication among volunteers and between COSTI and its volunteers, in order to share news, available positions and resolve issues
- Maintains a database (Excel) of volunteers and projects and tracks metrics
- Regularly updates supervisor on the volunteer program status and measures progress with a number of data points

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Community Development or Human Resource Management or Social Work.
- 2 years of experience as a volunteer coordinator or experience in the settlement sector
- Knowledge and awareness of issues facing refugees in Canada.
- Computer skills are required in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills in English including verbal, written and interpersonal skills; professionalism and diplomacy of communications.
- Multicultural sensitivity and understanding and appreciation of diversity; the ability to speak another language is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and independently.
- Highly developed organizational skills and detail orientated.
- Must be fully vaccinated or be exempt from vaccination on human rights grounds. COSTI reserves the right to require information establishing the validity of the exemption.
