SCOPE:

The Engagement Partnership Coordinator will provide communication, collaboration, and planning support to the ONWA Research and Evaluation Portfolio. The Engagement Partnership Coordinator will develop, implement, and support data project activities as part of the Research and Evaluation team. In addition, the Engagement Partnership Coordinator will ensure that engagement functions and resources are effectively integrated, organized and leveraged to meet strategic and operational needs. They will be responsible for developing and enhancing key community relationships/partnerships and improving engagements with ONWA services and membership, Indigenous communities, internal and external stakeholders. They will support the Research and Evaluation Portfolio by implementing and coordinating Indigenous research-based methodologies and gender-based analysis to develop performance measurement strategies, and data governance protocols to support the Indigenous women and their families.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in the area of Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies, Women's Studies, Public Policy, with a minimum five (5) years' work experience in community service delivery in a community engagement coordination role.
  • Knowledge and experience in research and engagement processes and protocols.
  • Expert knowledge in local, national, and international guidelines, recommendations, and legislation relating to Indigenous research.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and understand the dynamics between federal and provincial governments, regarding Indigenous issues and service delivery.
  • A thorough understanding of and demonstrated experience with Indigenous research methodologies in relations to performance measurement and data governance.
  • Expertise in research collaborations with Indigenous communities, leadership, and Indigenous Women's organizations.
  • Ability to work cross-culturally, and especially across the range of Indigenous communities, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to take initiative, gain consensus and work with people representing varying interests.
  • Good understanding of structure and devolution of powers between the federal and provincial governments. Understanding of service delivery model in Ontario.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to participate in engagement, draft meeting summaries, reports, and briefing materials, and actively participate in task teams, and working groups.
  • Experience in integrated knowledge translation engaging multiple audiences and users of knowledge in the research process is required.
  • Experience in designing, proposing, conducting, and carrying out systematic reviews is required.
  • Must have the ability to analyze and then articulate ideas from research findings with clarity and nuance.
  • Proven experience working with a community advisory committee, working group or research and policy tables specifically related to Indigenous people.
  • Experience coordinating, facilitating meetings, workshops, and engagements.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully write proposals.
  • Demonstrated administrative management and coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous Culture, Traditions, and Indigenous Community.
  • Strong awareness of issues affecting Indigenous women and people and awareness of community resources within the province.
  • Solution oriented with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of and relationships/partnerships with other service agencies, ability to network and create/maintain these relationships/partnerships.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current issues facing Indigenous Women and their families.
  • Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction and be able to improve performance through management feedback.
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage time effectively.
  • Highly motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and an ability to follow through on assigned duties independently with strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Not-For Profit Organizations.
  • Proficient working knowledge of MS Office Software, internet, and general office equipment.
  • Reliable vehicle, appropriate vehicle insurance coverage and valid Ontario "G" class driver's license.
  • Current, valid vulnerable sector criminal records check. Valid 1st Aid/CPR.
  • A cellular phone and internet access is required within this position.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible working from home arrangement if required. This may include a combination of virtual remote work in your home and in office arrangements. This will be based on operational needs and will be determined by the ONWA.
  • Ability to speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset.
