Overview:
St. Basil’s Parish is seeking a full time Coordinator of Outreach and Hospitality, who is compassionate, organized, and welcoming, to foster a culture of encounter, accompaniment, and justice at the parish through the program management of our weekly drop-in community meal program; volunteer training and coordination; and the support of allon-site receptions and events, which utilize the kitchen. The Coordinator of Outreach and Hospitality works in collaboration with the parish staff and reports to the pastor.

Founded by the Basilian Fathers in 1856, St. Basil’s is the Collegiate Church of the University of St. Michael’s College. As a Catholic parish in central Toronto, we are committed to serving the needs of our neighbours and upholding the dignity of all with compassion and care. For over 25 years, we have hosted an outreach ministry which supports those experiencing hunger in our city and engages our parish community. This includes twice weekly community meals served on-site at the parish through the Out of the Cold program, the Miller Group, and the John Ford First Sunday Food Drive. Our community meals are patronized by an average of 75 guests a day and is supported by a team of volunteers. As lead coordinator of our kitchen and pantry, this role would also support all on-site receptions and events at the parish.

**Responsibilities**:
**Coordination, development, and administration of the parish’s outreach meal programs, including Out of the Cold.  Specifically**:

- Creates a welcoming and compassionate environment and maintaining an orderly flow while respecting all guests and volunteers.
- Coordinates all food aspects of the outreach programs, including menu planning, meal preparation and serving, inventory management, purchasing, and compliance with Toronto Public Health norms.
- Is present at weekly meal preparation and services and ensures appropriate coverage when away (e.g., through the assistance of volunteer team leads).
- Prepares and manages a budget, coordinates fundraising opportunities, and researches other eligible funding.
- Offers to the pastor yearly reviews of the mission, goals, and impact of the outreach programs, including statistical reporting on guests served and volunteer engagement.
- Develops, in partnership with parish staff, a measurable plan for program growth and engagement that aligns with parish priorities.
- Researches resources and builds partnerships with local organizations and programs that can strengthen the mission and goals of the outreach programs and increase our support of the people we serve.

**Volunteer coordination. Specifically**:

- Recruits, trains, schedules, and supervises volunteers, including developing volunteer team leads, to ensure effective program implementation.
- Fosters a spirit of welcome, hospitality, prayer, and community among outreach volunteers in collaboration with other parish staff members.
- Ensures volunteer compliance with municipal public health standards and Archdiocesan volunteer screening policies.
- Partners with the staff of the University of St. Michael’s College and area high schools to facilitate opportunities for student involvement in programs.

**Facilities management and oversight of the kitchen space. Specifically**:

- In collaboration with parish staff and university housekeeping, develops a protocol for the scheduling, use, and cleaning of the kitchen and associated parish hall, and provides appropriate training for persons or groups using the kitchen.
- Supports the university and parish’s sustainability priorities through effective planning and protocols.
- Ensures inventory of food, equipment, and supplies is responsibly managed, protected, and maintained for all parish ministries that utilize the kitchen and pantry.
- Oversees and ensures the routine cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen utensils and appliances.
- Maintains cleaning supplies, ensures regular washing of linens, and proper garbage composting, recycling, and disposal.

**Support of other parish ministries or events that use the kitchen. Specifically**:

- Serves as onsite staff support and liaison to events or receptions held on the premises.
- Coordinates menu planning and food purchases for all parish events.
- Recruits, trains, and supervises hospitality ministers to assist with parish events.

**General**:

- Works collaboratively with parish staff and volunteer leaders of parish ministries.
- Joins weekly and other scheduled Pastoral Team meetings to ensure a cohesive team environment for implementing parish priorities.
- Occasionally reports to the parish council and/or the congregation.
- Other duties, as required.
