Purpose of Role

You will be a key member of a dynamic and innovative group of lawyers, paraprofessionals and legal support staff, providing the highest level of service to our clients, while having the opportunity to cultivate your skills as part of our successful national Labour and Employment team, within Canada’s premier full-service law firm.

Key Responsibilities and Skills
- Right from the start you will:
- Play a critical role in assisting our lawyers with matters relating to all aspects of labour, employment, and arbitration- Participate in preparing files for hearings, arbitration, mediation, discovery, pre-trial and trial- Draft key documentation such as pleadings, contracts, mediation briefs, motions, affidavits of documents, undertakings, document briefs and cost outlines for the various administrative bodies- Liaise with court staff and clerks at the various administrative bodies, such as Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, Ontario Labour Relations Board and Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal- Be responsible for matter management and data management, including scoping and budgeting- Collaborate and contribute as an important member of the team, and provide unwavering commitment to excellent client service

Key Competencies
- What you will bring to this role:
- 3+ years’ of relevant working experience as a law clerk; labour & employment and arbitration-specific experience will be an asset- College Law Clerk Diploma or Institute of Law Clerks Ontario Certificate- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills- Excellent ability to take direction and work independently- Strong knowledge and understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure, Rules of the Small Claims Court, Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, and Ontario Labour Relations Board- Bilingual with strong written and oral communication skills in both French and English, an asset- Knowledge of iManage, ACL, CaseLines, Relativity, Kofax Power PDF, Word, Excel, and Outlook- A team player with a strong work ethic and a desire for continuous improvement
