The Health Information Systems Division is responsible for the administration of Alberta’s _Health Information Act_ including health information policy and advice as well as the strategic planning and delivery of information management and technology systems and services that support the strategic goals of the Ministry and the health system.

This position provides assistance to Albertans through the HIA Help Desk; addressing Albertans questions about the HIA, access and privacy rights, Electronic Health Records, and other HIA related topics.

The HIA Policy team is responsible for a number of policy priorities related to amendments, implementation and administration of the HIA and its Regulations.

As a member of the _Health Information Act (HIA)_ Policy team, the HIA Policy Analyst is responsible for a variety of functions including:

- Policy development and advice
- Privacy and information sharing, knowledge building
- Supporting policy related to Alberta Netcare, Alberta Health Services' Connect Care, My Health Records, Mandatory Breach reporting, and other priority health information initiatives
- Preparing correspondence, reports, recommendations and briefing materials
- Identifying and evaluating complex and sensitive policy issues that impact the public, stakeholders and government departments
- Contributing to the development of materials to support government decision-making processes
- Participates in the coordination and delivery of the mandatory HIA General Awareness Training for all Alberta Health employees and affiliates

**Qualifications**:
University graduation in Business/Public Administration, Information Management, Political Science, Social Sciences plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Required experience includes:

- In-depth knowledge of the HIA, FOIP and PIPA legislation
- Experiences researching, analyzing and/or developing policy options
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite

$2,588.06 to $3,397.76 bi-weekly ($67,548 - $88,681/year)
