About You / What We Are Looking For
Are you a collaborative, inclusive, and empowering leader in the payroll profession? The City of Coquitlam is seeking a dynamic Payroll Manager to lead our dedicated team of payroll professionals. At the City of Coquitlam, we are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive work environment where every employee can thrive. - Inspire and guide a team of payroll professionals, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. Ensure the Payroll Team has a level of escalation and support to handle complexities and facilitate the decision making process to achieve desired outcomes.
- Maintain strong relationships and partnership with internal partners, effectively communicating complex payroll-related matters.
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll for approximately 2000 employees, ensuring compliance with policies, collective agreements, and legislation.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with all relevant regulations through meticulous review and approval processes.
- Develop, communicate, and train staff on payroll-related policies and procedures, ensuring cross-training for organizational resilience.
- Manage a payroll of approximately $148 million annually, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
**Qualifications**:
You will possess an undergraduate certificate or diploma in Business Administration or a related discipline. You should have at least 5 years of related payroll experience, including 2-5 years in a supervisory or management role. Additionally, you should hold a Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) Designation and have experience with PeopleSoft HCM, demonstrating a proven track record of implementing system enhancements as it relates to payroll.
What We Offer:
This excluded position has an annual salary range of $122,343 - $137,618. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.

Additionally, there is an opportunity to participate in a flex day program. This position is based in Coquitlam with some flexible, hybrid work options available. The City offers an attractive vacation and extended benefits package, including the ability to contribute to the Municipal Pension Plan.
