Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Quality, Risk and Privacy the Quality Improvement Specialist will facilitate, support, coach and provide leadership for a corporate infrastructure of continuous quality improvement and patient safety. The incumbent will use expert knowledge and skills in quality improvement, to provide current and future state analysis, gap identification and prioritization, consultative support and coaching to hospital programs. In addition, the incumbent will collaborate with clinical and non-clinical programs to ensure their improvement targets are achieved in a sustainable manner.
**Qualifications**:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. Industrial Engineering, Business Management, Nursing etc.) required
- Master’s Degree in an asset
- 3+ years of experience in a health care organization required
- Understanding of clinical informatics
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Data measurement and analysis pertaining to quality and patient safety highly preferred
- Demonstrated experience in project and change management
- Superior verbal, written, listening and presentation communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple, often competing priorities
- Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills
- Very strong attention to detail and process orientation
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of software, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project and PowerPoint.

Primary Responsibilities
- Facilitate the development of our annual Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), including the Narrative, Work Plan, and Progress Report, with engagement from all stakeholders
- Support ongoing change strategies and improvement work with data analysis
- Act as the primary administrator for our SafePoint Incident Reporting System (RL6), setting up and adjusting users and alerts, testing and deploying system changes, etc.
- Provide user training, technical support, report development and data analysis, consultations regarding proposed enhancements
- Work with the vendor for external troubleshooting and is the main liaison with the vendor and Southlake IT for system upgrades
- Provides leadership for identified areas of expertise, including the development, implementation and evaluation of areas of focus.
- Provides support to identified programs by facilitating program quality improvement initiatives and organizational improvement initiatives
- Promotes a culture of quality and high reliability
- Promotes a culture of quality through presentations, interactions and project support with front line teams and leaders.
- Establishes credibility with all levels of the organization to influence others, challenge the status quo and act as catalyst for positive change.
