The Ministry of Indigenous Relations is dedicated to advancing stronger relationships between the provincial government and Indigenous communities, organizations and people. A key focus of the Indigenous Women’s Initiatives (IWI) division is addressing violence and increasing the safety and economic security of Indigenous women, girls and two spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and asexual plus (2S+) people through the implementation of the Alberta Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Roadmap. This includes providing secretariat support to the Premier’s Council on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirit Plus (2S+) People, and the First Nations and Métis Women’s Councils on Economic Security. The IWI division also administers the Community Support Fund (CSF) and the Alberta Indigenous Intern Program (AIIP).

**Role Responsibilities**:
Are you passionate about supporting Indigenous communities to address violence and increase safety and economic security for Indigenous women, girls, and 2S+ people? If you have experience in grant management, program coordination, and building strong relationships across sectors, we want you on our team.

This role coordinates the implementation of the division’s grants, evaluates programs, and fosters relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations, provincial ministries, and other partners. The incumbent will identify emerging trends, monitor grant progress, and ensure alignment with broader government strategies.

**Key Responsibilities include**:

- Support community-based initiatives that address and prevent violence and increase safety for Indigenous women, girls, and 2S+ people; and enhance their resiliency and well-being.
- Provide advice to Indigenous communities and organizations to support project development and implementation.
- Support the entire grant management lifecycle, ensuring compliance with requirements and timely delivery of key milestones.
- Build relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and government partners.
- Collaborate across ministries and departments to share information and resources.
- Monitor emerging trends and issues to inform strategies and policy.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for senior management.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Requirement**: A minimum of a university degree in a related field (Native Studies, Social Sciences, Women's and Gender Studies., or another related discipline) and two years of related experience.

**Equivalency: Directly related education or experience may be considered based on**:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

**Required**:

- Experience in Grant Management and Program Evaluation: Managing grants and overseeing the evaluation of community-based programs, including monitoring deliverables and assessing project outcomes.
- Project Management Experience: Coordinating projects, managing timelines, resources, and budgets, and delivering results in line with strategic objectives.
- Research: Qualitative and quantitative research methods to assess community needs, emerging trends, and program effectiveness.

- Experience Working with Indigenous Communities: Engaging with Indigenous communities, organizations, and partners, with a solid understanding of cultural protocols, community engagement, and addressing issues specific to Indigenous women, girls, and 2S+ people.
