- Reporting to the Associate Director, Community and Public Affairs, the Community Engagement Liaison facilitates community engagement and collaboration with North Island College projects and initiatives including those associated with program and service areas as well as capital projects. The Community Engagement liaison works collaboratively with the members of the Community and Public Affairs, Marketing and Future Students and various NIC project teams. The Community Engagement Liaison will perform a variety of communications and community outreach, project facilitation, opportunity analysis and research that supports NIC community engagement goals. This includes project-specific liaison work with both internal and external partners and contacts including students, faculty, staff, alumni, areas organizations, businesses, industry, and others as directed by the Associate Director, Community and Public Affairs. The successful applicant will be able to meet deadlines in the production of high quality, professional work on multiple projects both independently and collaboratively. They are aware of NIC’s mission and vision and incorporate NIC values in their everyday practice.**Position Competencies**

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- 1. Plan community engagement opportunities (events, meetings and initiatives) that involve multiple interested parties and community organizations.
2. Plan, develop and participate in-person and virtual consultations.
3. Collaborate on the development of project information and promotional materials and information.
4. Represent NIC and offer presentations at events, community meetings and other venues.
5. Create, develop and maintain professional working relationships with a network of internal and community contacts.
6. Coordinate site and campus visits with external stakeholders as directed.
7. Consult with NIC divisions, departments, working groups, faculty, staff, students and alumni.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Community Engagement.
9. Produce project status reports, analyses, and summaries of all current projects including all activities conducted to further the goals of NIC’s community engagement strategy and strategic plans.
10. Ensure appropriate retention, access and retrieval of documents and reports related to the duties and functions of the position, including documents of a confidential nature.**Required Education & Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a focus on communications, or related discipline. Post-secondary education in business or office administration or equivalent, combined with other relevant education, training and recent, related work experience may be considered.
- Over five years’ experience of project management, community liaison, analysis and coordination including development of documentation, communication, tracking systems and processes, preferably in a post-secondary environment. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated recent experience working in an office or centre/department environment working cooperatively with multiple stakeholders including staff, faculty, students, senior administration, external agencies etc., preferably in a post-secondary environment. Experience working with and learning from First Nations communities is an asset.
