The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for providing reliable, effective and efficient administrative and technical support to the Health and Safety Advisor(s) to ensure the health, safety and well-being of all employees in accordance with the Collective Agreements, Corporate Policies, Practices, Programs, Procedures and related Legislation.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Quarterly/annual maintenance and review of health, safety and wellness metrics, accident and incident trends, first aid equipment and facility restock, notice board updates and 3E SDS Management System
- Assist with annual reviews of the health and safety program and policies including municipal benchmarking
- Maintenance of Health, Safety and Wellness related content on the City’s intranet, RhLink
- Activities related to the City's two Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees
- Coordination of workplace audits and assist with the development of recommendations to remove any barriers or hazards based on best practice while maintaining legislative compliance
- Review, inventory maintenance and purchase of health and safety supplies and equipment
- Preparation of proposals, reports, correspondence and other related documentation as requested

**Education and Experience**:

- Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C & AED
- 1 year related experience in occupational health and safety, preferably in a municipal work environment

**Required Skills/Knowledge**:

- Demonstrated attention to detail, organizational and logístical skills using both interpersonal and technical health and safety skillset
- Basic understanding of municipal government, its operations and services
- Ability to research, analyze and report information to identify trends, draft policies and procedures and conduct applicable trainings
- Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Parklane
- Ability to communicate effectively and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team, as well as independently
- Demonstrated comfort of data analysis with ability to generate reports
- Ability to be flexible in hours of work to facilitate health and safety training schedule and health and safety emergencies
- Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with sensitive and confidential information involving management and employees
- Proven organizational skills and multi-tasking skills with the ability to set priorities and schedule work for completion by established timeframe
- Demonstrates commitment to personal growth, development and leadership opportunities
- Shows initiative to participate in a culture of learning, mentoring and sharing
- Contributes to building and being a part of positive culture while embracing the City’s core values
- Possession and maintenance of an Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and access to a vehicle to conduct corporate business (mileage compensated)
