We are currently seeking a **Health & Safety Specialist **to join the Richmond Hill plant. The H&S Coordinator plays a key role in the reduction and elimination of incidents and injuries in the workplace through monitoring, coaching, and supporting the Rebar shop and Management.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Provide support to hourly and salaried staff by having a visible presence on the Production floor.
- Communicate and coordinate Occupational Health & Safety procedures, policies and systems on a daily basis to all site-based personnel;
- Assess training requirements for management, supervision, Joint Health and Safety Committee members, and hourly employees.
- Plan for, coordinate, and conduct health and safety training including but not limited to: overhead crane, orientations, WHMIS, CPR/First Aid, and specialized training (if possible)
- Collaborate with Mansteel supervisory personnel to identify and remedy unsafe working condition.
- Proactively identify and prevent hazardous situations and communicate situations to site management
- Conduct regular walk-thru inspections and audits of construction areas. This includes site inspections; equipment checks and regular spot checks;
- Assist with injury management, compliance with company's return-to-work policy; Administration of health and safety forms including: Form 7, correspondence to WSIB regarding claims and early and safe return to work programs, modified duty reports and tracking sheet.
- Conduct job safety analyses (JSA), safe work procedures (SWP), and physical demands analyses (PDA).
- Seek continuous improvement to health, safety, security and environment programs by assisting in inspections and audits, and implementation of subsequent action plans.
- Perform other project related duties as assigned

**Requirements**:

- 5+ years of practical health and safety experience - on-site expertise on large scale manufacturing sites
- Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in Occupational Health and Safety is required
- Please note this is a **rotating shift** role. **2 weeks 8am-5:30pm. 2 weeks 7pm-4:30am.**:

- Knowledgeable in Occupational Health and Safety legislation, along with the construction, industrial, and manufacturing regulations
- Understanding of WSIB and MOL guidelines and requirements
- Knowledge of Ontario’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) and possessing auditor qualifications and experience will be an asset
- Knowledge of Environmental Compliance legislation and the general management of waste, water, air, chemicals, etc.,
- Proficient with computer software’s, Microsoft Office skills are required
- Ability to influence others to follow safety practices, procedures, and regulations
- Exceptional interpersonal abilities and solid communication skills are necessary
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
- Organizational and planning skills with ability to delegate or escalate to management when required
- Self-directed, ability to take initiative, and perform as part of a team
- First Aid and CPR certificate is an asset.
- Valid Drivers’ License
