Note: Interviews for this position will be conducted by Microsoft Teams. The BAO currently follows a Hybrid Work model whereby employees may visit the office as frequently as is needed and has the option to work from a home office up to 4 days/week. The BAO has a COVID-19 vaccination policy that requires all staff be fully vaccinated by a Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccine or undergo regular testing. Individuals with valid medical or other human rights-based exemptions will be considered for appropriate accommodation within the policy.

**Responsibilities**

**General Licensing Team Duties**
- Works with landowners of existing unlicensed cemeteries throughout Ontario to educate them on licensing requirements and assist them in becoming duly licensed under the FBCSA; alternatively, coordinates with the landowner and local municipality to have the cemetery transferred to the municipality, or as a last resort, to have the cemetery formally declared abandoned under the FBCSA.
- Analyses, reviews and approves cemetery, crematorium and alternative disposition (hydrolysis) by-laws; works closely with operators to ensure the by-law approval process is followed and with the assistance of the BAO's sample by-laws, ensures that the operator's by-laws are in compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.
- Analyses, reviews and approves cemetery plan filings to ensure they meet legislative requirements.
- Communicate and coordinate with the Inspections, Compliance, and Enforcement (ICE) team to ensure sharing of information and follow-up related to various licensing activities.
- Provides support in responding to Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT) appeals of proposals concerning eligibility for licensure.
- Monitors, tracks, and reports emerging issues or trends to the Manager and Registrar.
- On occasion, may provide support the Personal Licensing and Education team members re. personal licensing duties.

**Stakeholder Outreach**
- Responds to licensing-related inquiries and complaints (verbally or in writing) and advises consumers of their rights and responsibilities under relevant legislation, to increase consumer and industry awareness and to strengthen consumer protection.
- Liaises with the ICE Team to ensure coordination of efforts in response to complaints or escalations where licensing is involved.

- Organizational skills to work with established deadlines and standards for licensing activities.
- Collaboration skills to work as a committed team member.
- Sound judgement in assessing situations to determine appropriate course of action, including when to escalate matters to management for issues resolution.
- Advanced proficiency using MS Office (Teams, Word, Excel) and other business tools and technologies

- Experience with Delegated Administrative Authorities
- Experience in or understanding of the bereavement sector
- Experience reading site plans/drawings, reviewing by-laws and interpreting legislation
- Bilingual (French/English)
