The Division
The Local Government Division is responsible for the development of policies, legislation and regulations related to municipal government structure, finance and accountability, service delivery, as well as the development of strategies for consultation with municipalities, municipal organizations and client groups. This position is within the Assistant Deputy Minister's Office and will support the coordination of exciting work across the division.

What can I expect to do in this role?

**In this role, you will**:

- Lead, manage, coordinate and respond to urgent and complex issues within tight deadlines
- Develop sound working relationships with staff in the Minister's, Deputy Minister's and Assistant Deputy Minister's offices as well as external partners and stakeholders in the management and timely resolution of issues
- Plan, manage and implement projects in key results areas identified by senior management
- Coordinate the preparation and consolidation of reports, briefing/issues notes, correspondence, presentations and other materials
- Review and edit responses to ensure quality, consistent messaging, tone and relevance of information
- Research, compile and organize information on emerging issues and trends, and prepare and present findings/summaries
- Participate and represent the executive assistant on corporate committees, meetings and working groups
- Initiate, plan and carry out special projects and assignments

Technical Knowledge

**You have**:

- Ability to develop knowledge of divisional/ministry policies, programs, mandate and operations
- Knowledge of office administrative procedures and practices

Stakeholder Relations and Communication Skills

**You can**:

- Understand diverse viewpoints of stakeholders and find appropriate approaches to communications issues
- Review correspondence and responses, and prepare, coordinate, and edit issues notes/briefing notes

Analytical, Problem-Solving and Organizational Skills

**You have**:

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills to evaluate, analyze and interpret issues identified by various internal/external sources
- Well-developed research skills, techniques and methods to research and organize information relating to issues management
- Ability to coordinate a variety of high-profile, sensitive issues/projects, and meeting conflicting deadlines

Project Management Skills

**You can**:

- Effectively initiate, plan and carry out special projects and assignments, and implement approved initiatives
- Consolidate information, and provide timely responses and briefings while dealing with competing project priorities
