**SUMMARY**:
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the timely and accurate completion of payroll. Designs, tests, and implements new payroll processes and schedules cut off dates accordingly. Produces accurate biweekly pay for Canadian and US employees. Performs internal and external accounting, reporting, and remitting functions. Provides supervision to the payroll practitioners.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Processing full cycle (hire to termination), bi-weekly Canadian and US payroll for approximately 2000 hourly and salary employees using payroll software and time attendance system.
- Perform various calculations including, but not limited to, prorating salaries, labor costs, net and gross payments, deductions, benefits, and advances.
- Balance and reconcile payroll transactions.
- Monitor and reconcile accounts.
- Analyze and balance transaction codes. Analyze daily edits and updates, and resolve errors or warnings.
- Preparing absence and vacation calculations, and time in lieu calculations for HR.
- Reviewing ROEs, garnishment reports, and RRSP contribution reports.
- Responding to inquiries from employees, Service Canada, external and internal stakeholders.
- Preparing monthly payroll journal entries.
- Assisting with Payroll year-end tax form preparations and with Finance year-end and internal audits
- Inform departments and employees of current tax laws and implications.
- Write a variety of documents including but not limited to correspondence, letters, reports, and presentation slides.
- Provide training to staff on preparing and executing payments for payroll.
- Maintain confidentiality of personnel and payroll information.
- Other duties as assigned

- Ability to multi-task and have strong time management skills
- Effective communication skills verbal, written and listening

**EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 3-5 years experience with processing full cycle payroll. BPO experience an asset.
- Previous experience with ADP (US or Canada) payroll system
