Our teachers work together to ensure that all children-from gifted students to average learners to those needing more support-are taught in ways that enable them to succeed. This flexibility in determining what works best for each student is admired and appreciated by our parents.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Providing direct support to one student in Language Arts and Math Classes
- Accommodating and modifying curricular expectations in the moment for one student.
- Providing 30 minutes of daily reinforcement of Math skills at the beginning of the day.
- Preparing daily lesson plans for math tutoring.
- Participating in recess supervision and / or providing general educational support in a classroom environment
- Experience providing social / emotional support as well as academic support is an asset.
- A passion for learning about the best approaches for working with exceptional children.
- Maintaining productive working habits and discipline in the classroom.
- Supervising students throughout the day.
- Assessing and evaluating student's educational progress and abilities.
- Setting and conducting testing.
- Discussing students’ progress with parents and guardians, administrators and other professionals as necessary.
- Other duties as required

**Knowledge, Skills and Attributes**
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- B.Ed in elementary education with experience
- Member in Good Standing: OCT, preferred
- Experience working in a special education environment
- Evidence of building a strong rapport with children and parents
- Demonstrates patience and flexibility as a teacher
- Demonstrate a passion for ongoing learning and professional development
- Has an aptitude for differentiated learning styles and approaches
- Be skilled in the use of technology
- Have a creative approach to teaching; motivates and engages students with a range of learning styles
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of the teaching team.
- Ability to work flexibly and to adapt in a constantly changing and thriving environment.
- Demonstrated talent for teaching, coaching, mentoring and inspiring students
- Proven ability to develop smooth, collaborative working relationships with parents and colleagues
- Evidence of strong written and oral communication and organizational skills
- Experience using differentiated instructional strategies and learning strategies.
- Experience interpreting and executing Individual Education Plans

**Salary**: Starting salary begins at $25 - $35 / hour

**Hours**: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 20 per week

**Salary**: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
