**Position Summary**

Nourish Nova Scotia is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Communications & Engagement Assistant to amplify the work of our team and help our food-related content reach its intended audiences, including youth, educators, donors, partners and volunteers. They will assist the Executive Director, Program Development Coordinator, Farm to School Coordinator and other team members in their work while taking primary responsibility for design and editing of regular external communications including a monthly e-newsletter, social media and blog posts; work at a computer will be balanced with in-person engagement with colleagues, volunteers and community partners, primarily in Dartmouth North.

**Skills and Qualifications**
- Education with a focus on any of the following: communications, digital media/marketing, community development, health promotion or related discipline
- Strong communications skills—both oral and written, including the ability to write compelling and clean copy
- Proven experience managing social media accounts and creating content for diverse platforms.
- Proficiency in using Canva and other graphic design tools.
- Creative mindset and ability to generate innovative ideas.
- Experience working in diverse cultural contexts and meeting people where they’re at
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Very strong oral and written French
- Demonstrated interest in health equity, food security and/or gardening
- Creative approaches for engaging youth via social media
- Above-average tech skills
- Experience coordinating and facilitating group discussions (in-person and/or virtual)

**Terms of Employment**:

- Hourly pay of $24 by bi-weekly direct deposit; 25 hours/week depending on availability and ability to contribute to other projects
- Cost-shared benefits plan

- Vacation entitlement of 3 weeks per year, pro-rated
- 10 sick/wellness days, pro-rated

Part-time hours: 25 per week

**Salary**: $24.00 per hour
