**Advisor, People and Culture**
United Way Greater Toronto is looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, and strategic Advisor, People and Culture to join our team at our Toronto office.
Reporting to the Manager, People and Culture, the Advisor, People and Culture is responsible for administering and supporting HR programs related to recruitment, on-boarding, off-boarding, performance management, payroll, benefits and pension.
**What you’ll do**:
- Provide support for hiring managers in recruitment including job postings, resume screening, interviews, applicant testing and reference checks
- Assist in the development of interview guides and participate in interviews and selection
- Develop and post job ads and maintain the career section of UWGT’s web site
- Implement social media recruiting practices
- Participate in job fairs to position UWGT as an employer of choice
- Liaise with temporary staffing agencies as needed
- Track recruiting metrics
- Extend employment offers and write offer letters
- Administer the onboarding program, ensuring that new employees are set up for success
- Oversee the offboarding process, including writing departure notices, conducting exit interviews, summarizing results for managers and analyzing departures for trends
- Maintain job descriptions, ensuring consistent style, reference to competencies and accessibility/equity
- Administer Job Shadowing, Internal Secondment and Internship programs
- Provide technical support for performance management and answer process-related inquiries
- Administer Payroll and related modules of ADP Workforce Now, including managing set-up and technical issues, as well providing user support
- Administer the payroll function which includes preparing, calculating, processing and verifying bi-weekly payroll, ensuring compliance to legislative requirements and UWGT policies
- Prepare monthly remittances and ensure all legislated payroll requirements are calculated and administered within compliance deadlines i.e. EHT, WSIB payments, union fees, T-4’s, T-4A’s, T2200’s
- Update and maintain all pay related records
- Provide support for annual audit including documentation, preparing reports and responding to inquiries
- Administer benefits program including processing enrollments, changes and terminations; communicating with insurance carrier; responding to employee questions; arranging payments and maintaining benefit records
- Administer pension plan, including processing enrollments and terminations; coordinating with pension plan carrier; responding to employee questions; maintaining pension files
- Prepare documentation of employment status changes, e.g. transfers, promotions, contract extensions, etc.
- Maintain accurate employee data and documents
- Assist with implementing HR initiatives, projects and activities
- Provide timely and accurate response to employee inquiries on HR programs and initiatives
- Act as back-up to members of the P&C team
- Other duties and projects as assigned
**What you’ll need to be successful**:
- More than 1 year and up to and including 3 years’ experience in an HR administration role, including experience in full cycle recruitment
- Knowledge of Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code
- Demonstrated commitment to barrier-free recruitment practices that promote diversity, inclusion and equity
- Advanced knowledge of the payroll function with demonstrated experience administering computerized payroll system (ADP Workforce Now an asset)
- Previous experience working in a unionized setting administering unionized payroll
- Canadian Payroll Association certification considered an asset
- Post-secondary degree and CHRP designation, or equivalent work-related experience preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to solve complex pay calculations and recommend workable solutions
- Strong problem-solving skills with proven success at identifying, escalating and resolving issues
- Proven organizational abilities and ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines under pressure
- Proven ability to take initiative and carry projects to completion with minimum supervision
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and constituent service skills including the ability to work respectfully and inclusively with a diverse employee population and multiple stakeholders
- Excellent judgment and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information
- Excellent attention to detail and proven track record of accuracy
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Proven customer service skills with the focus on providing exceptional internal constituent service
- Willingness to actively contribute to the organizational equity framework through participation in learning opportunities and implementing anti-oppressive, and anti-racist learnings into action internally and externally
