**Communications Specialist**

The Communications Specialist will work with TMHC’s Community Engagement and Business Development teams to develop and support internal and external communications regarding projects, corporate branding, marketing, web design, and social media posts. Salary will be commensurate with experience ($65,000 to $75,000 per annum).

**Responsibilities**

**Community Engagement Support**
- Support TMHC’s Community Engagement Team in outreach initiatives for various stakeholders and Indigenous communities.
- Assist in the preparation of engagement strategies, report writing, and summaries of stakeholder and Indigenous feedback.
- Assist in the planning and execution of public engagement events, community meetings, open houses, town halls, etc.
- Develop communication products to support community engagement.
- Convert complex concepts, models, and findings into graphic and easy-to-understand communications in both print and digital formats.
- Demonstrate good judgment, sensitivity, and tact when communicating with stakeholders and Indigenous communities.

**Communications Support**
- Assist in developing, implementing, and measuring external and internal communication strategies.
- Support staff through graphic design and other visual elements of infographics, posters, etc.
- Provide guidance and contribute innovative ideas for various materials developed by staff for education, outreach, or project-related purposes. Convert complex ideas into simple, plain language.
- Determine and implement the most effective way to mobilize TMHC knowledge into reports, presentations/webinars, and online content aimed at a variety of audiences.
- Ensure all TMHC corporate communications are Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliant.

**Branding, Marketing, Web Design, and Social Media Management**
- Maintain and promote consistent look and feel across all print and digital platforms that represent TMHC.
- Communicate TMHC’s mission statement in both print and digital formats.
- Gather and share stories and photos of the positive impact of TMHC services and programs.
- Create communications and marketing material in print and digital formats, such as newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, brochures, and flyers.
- Assist with the overhaul of TMHC’s website.
- Develop, post, and manage website content, including uploading content and ensuring compliance with legislation and standards (e.g., AODA).
- Manage corporate social media presence, including developing and delivering creative and effective communications.
- Work with a wide range of media, including both written and graphic content.
- Develop content for other platforms (e.g., newsletter) as needed.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Degree or diploma in communications, marketing, public relations, media, journalism, or related field
- Demonstrated experience in knowledge translation and exchange
- Demonstrated ability to communicate to a variety of different audiences, in various platforms and channels, in a clear, digestible manner
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and the use of social media platforms
- Experience in digital, web, and print design and content creation
- Ability to exercise discretion and tact when dealing with confidential or sensitive information

**Work Experience**

Minimum 2-3 years demonstrated work experience in the communications field

Demonstrated work experience in any of the following areas will be considered an asset:

- consultation and engagement with the public, stakeholders, and/or Indigenous communities
- graphic design
- social media management, website maintenance and design

Experience with the following would also be considered an asset:

- Website content management software (e.g., WordPress) and working knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliance
- Conflict de-escalation and resolution skills when dealing with members of the
- Understanding of Indigenous relations in Southwestern Ontario
