**About Our Opportunity**:
Reporting to the senior management team in the Subsurface Energy Development Branch, the Manager of Marine Renewables and Clean Innovation supports the provincial government’s efforts to develop clean energy resources, reduce Nova Scotia’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, create jobs and transition to a low carbon economy.

As the Manager you provide sound, timely, policy advice to decision makers in areas related to clean growth and marine renewable energy including offshore renewable energy, green hydrogen, clean investment and related policy innovation. You will lead the administration and implementation of the Marine Renewable-energy Act and regulations and support the administration of the province’s tidal energy licence and permit program.

You work as part of a collaborative team to lead the development of policy and programs across the marine renewables and clean innovation sector. You will lead a group of motivated experts operating existing programs and developing new ones in an exciting, rapidly evolving sector.

As an accomplished communicator, you will engage with as well as lead multi disciplinary teams across government advancing emerging priority opportunities, including offshore renewable energy, green hydrogen, clean investment and related policy innovation. You will galvanize intergovernmental cooperation and develop/maintain strong strategic relationships with First Nations, local communities, and industry.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
The Manager, Marine Renewables and Clean Innovation, is accountable for strategic and operational leadership and uses a broad knowledge of policies, legislation, regulations and programs to support departmental and overall Government priorities. The Manager participates and contributes to the Branch management team as well as department-wide and intradepartmental working groups and committees.
- They are responsible to mentor, coach, and monitors team performance to ensure that individual and team objectives are met, any conflicting priorities managed, and that employee professional development is encouraged.
- The Manager provides leadership to establish collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders, ensuring mechanisms are in place to anticipate, monitor, report and respond to issues. The Manager builds and maintains proactive working relationships across an extensive network within the Province, with the federal government and with other provinces, both at peer level and with senior representatives.
- They represents the department professionally, demonstrating excellent verbal communication skills with frequent in-person and virtual meetings including delivering presentations and accepting speaking engagements with small to large audiences. The Manager uses persuasive writing skills to integrate analysis into strategy and planning. This may include creation or amendment of legislation, regulations, policies, and programs.
- The Manager has budget management responsibility and works independently on costing, budgeting and finance tasks while providing guidance and training to others. The Manager scopes, develops, and project manages new initiatives and implements continuous improvements for ongoing responsibilities.

- Lead responsive policy development and analysis activities that focus on the creation of a pathway for offshore renewable energy, green hydrogen, clean investment and related policy innovation.
- Lead the design and development of innovative programs to support Nova Scotia’s transition to a low carbon economy renewable energy, including research, data collection and analysis, consultation, formulation, and implementation of new programs.
- Communicate clearly and timely with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Improve operational effectiveness, efficiency, and internal controls as it relates to programs through improved processes and procedures.
- Provide leadership, project management, and liaison support to project teams and departmental committees.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
To be successful in this role, you will have a bachelor’s degree accompanied by progressive related experience.
