We are seeking an accomplished Academic Leader to join our esteemed team at The World Aquaculture Society. This tenure-track position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative marine management research and teaching programs.
Job OverviewThis full-time role is part of our Dalhousie Diversity Faculty Award (DDFA) initiative, aimed at increasing faculty representation from historically underrepresented groups. About the PositionThe successful candidate will have a PhD at the time of application or be nearing completion. A strong academic background, coupled with a commitment to transformative transdisciplinary research, outreach, and service activities, is essential for this role. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in developing and conducting applied marine management research programs, relevant outreach and service activities, and commitments to upholding principles of inclusivity, equity, diversity, and accessibility.

Responsibilities- Develop and lead transdisciplinary marine management research programs, focusing on climate adaptation, blue economy, marine resources, marine energy, maritime commerce and transportation, coastal development, Indigenous knowledge systems, Indigenous rights, marine biodiversity conservation, marine spatial planning, ocean access and human health, and biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction.
- Teach three courses per year, including required courses and elective options aligned with the research expertise and interests of the successful candidate.
- Engage in outreach and service activities, promoting the impact of research and fostering collaboration across fields and faculties.
- Maintain a strong commitment to inclusivity, equity, diversity, and accessibility in teaching, research, and engagement with graduate students and the wider community.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, they will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including a generous retirement plan and opportunities for professional development.
