**PreTeaching - Experience Program (Volunteer PT)**

Are you planning to attend an Ontario teacher's college as a graduate or mature student (not suitable for current high school students)? Looking for meaningful, hands-on experience that will set you up for success in your teaching career? This program provides invaluable classroom experience in a dynamic educational setting that blends traditional methods with innovative practices.

**About Us** We are a growing private school (JK/Preschool to Grade 12) dedicated to providing students with a well-rounded, skills-based education. We’re seeking passionate volunteers who:

- Attended a Canadian public or private school to ensure familiarity with the Ontario educational landscape.
- Are available during school hours.
- Are comfortable working with a range of students and are eager to explore different educational opportunities

**Role Overview**

With teacher and admin supports, you will take on responsibilities that may include:

- Working with students to provide academic support and coaching.
- Assisting, developing, and enhancing programs not just on a classroom scale.
- Contributing to curriculum implementation and program development.
- Taking creative teaching and learning ideas, then being able to put these into action as worthwhile contributions.
- Adding new ideas and creativity within the school (e.g., creating a school awards program, developing a concert program, or other timely initiatives that a teacher would participate in).

**Examples of Impactful Contributions**

Our volunteers gain experience in a wide array of activities that go beyond the typical teacher practicum, building skills in areas critical to real-world teaching and school life. Previous volunteers have:

- Developed differentiated resources aligned with Ontario Learning Skills.
- Supervised classroom and school-wide activities while refining classroom management skills.
- Assisted students transitioning to Singapore Math by providing one-on-one and small group support.
- Co-created a continuum of LifeReady Foundational Skills to better integrate foundational competencies across all grades.
- Organized extracurricular activities that fostered student social skills and teamwork.
- Supported students with individualized learning plans, ensuring enrichment needs were met effectively.
- Created a cultural survey for students and parents to explore and celebrate the diverse backgrounds of our school community, fostering inclusivity and understanding.
- Assisted in developing assessment tools to help track student progress more effectively.
- Planned and delivered workshops on study skills and time management for students across various grade levels.
- Contributed to school-wide initiatives like thematic assemblies and cultural celebrations, enhancing the overall school community atmosphere.
