We currently have an opportunity in our HR/Safety team for an HR Manager, based at our corporate office in Steinbach, MB.

Barkman has about 175 team members across four provinces (MB/SK/AB/BC), and you will have the opportunity to personally connect, as an HR professional, with individuals at all levels of the organization. Focused on a high standard of internal customer service, the HR/Safety team plays a vital role in providing a people focused work environment through our recruitment and onboarding practices, training and career development offerings, benefits and compensation programs and safe work practices.

This role is ideal for an experienced HR Professional, who has a passion for employee relations, change management, and leadership. If you have experience providing support to Payroll, Health and Safety, and working within an inter-provincial team, this might be the right role for you.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Provides support and guidance to the HR team, payroll, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise.
- Motivates and develops a collaborative and highly functioning HR and Safety team.
- Being a resource to leadership in employee relations in terms of Employment Standards, reviewing options for performance management strategies, internal transfers, or promotions, providing data such as attendance reports or past performance management documentation, drafting performance management forms/letters and aiding in employee investigations or conversations.
- Maintains compliance with interprovincial employment and safety related legislation in MB/SK/AB/BC and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Participates in site-wide and company-wide HR initiatives as required.
- Providing guidance and support to employees who have questions regarding employment, concerns with co-workers or leadership, benefit inquiries, internal job postings, etc.
- Experience in implementing change management and being a strategic leader.
- Other duties include participating in corporate event preparations, job fairs, safety events and networking functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**

**Qualifications**

**Required**
- Education in Human Resource Management, business admin and/or payroll administration.
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of HR experience performing a broad range of HR functions including employee relations.
- Minimum three years’ experience providing direct supervision and managing the performance of staff.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Interest in continued personal career development and continuous education informally and formally.
- Understanding or experience with benefits (group insurance, RRSP) and payroll administration.

**Assets**
- Experience within a multi-provincial production environment.
- Experience with manufacturing or construction work environments is an asset.
- Experience managing a health and safety program.

**Working Conditions**
- Wearing PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, safety shoes and hearing protection when in production areas is required.

**Location**
- This role will work mostly out of our Steinbach facility. However, travel will be required to our Winnipeg facility and may include occasional travel to Alberta and BC. Spending dedicated time in both the office and in production is equally important to understanding the company’s functions, job roles and the various work environments.

**Conditions of Employment**
- Must hold a current driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving abstract/record.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Pay: $75,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
