We are searching for a talented and motived event coordinator to support our volunteers as they attend events in communities across BC and Yukon. As the Volunteer Coordinator, Events, you are well-organized and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. A vital part of the role is developing relationships with key stakeholders and contributing to St. John Ambulance’s strong reputation in our communities.

You are a seasoned volunteer coordinator who recognizes the importance of efficiently delivering on program logistics and is driven to provide exemplary service to internal and external customers.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Plan and coordinate Brigade and Therapy Dog volunteer coverage for local community events and partnerships. Assist volunteers with special event planning such as open houses, volunteer recognition events, and volunteer orientations as needed.
- Communicate directly and promptly with vendors throughout the event planning process to understand requirements and goals, and ensure all parties have relevant information and details.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors to acquire necessary services and equipment for events while meeting budgetary objectives.
- Lead the coordination of the annual Investiture and volunteer recognition events.
- Perform post-event tasks such as meeting with clients to ensure satisfaction, reviewing invoices and bills, processing donations, approving payments, and documenting learnings, issues, and resolutions. Follow Finance processes and guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with Business Development, Marketing, and Operations teams to leverage event opportunities for brand awareness and training/product promotion as appropriate.
- Promote public awareness of St. John Ambulance programs and services through public and private events (trade shows, info booths, presentations, etc.).

**Qualifications and Skills**
- 2+ years of event coordinating experience;
- Post-secondary education in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, Business (or relevant sufficient experience);
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Professional demeanor with a proven track record or aptitude for customer service;
- Detail-oriented with solid time management skills;
- Familiar with resource management, including budget and inventory;
- Proven negotiation skills;
- Able to work well independently and in a group; and
- Knowledge of performance monitoring methods for events and the ability to create reports to guide future event coordination improvements.
