**Role**

The Regulatory Assurance Division is the dynamic, state-of-the-art regulatory arm of the department. It provides Alberta with a predictive, outcomes-based approach for making effective stewardship decisions about Alberta’s air, land and watercourses with a view to balancing the socio-environmental needs of our natural spaces with an enhanced competitive posture for the province. Reporting to the Deputy Minister, you will lead, support, and direct the achievement of division and ministry goals and objectives in all aspects of regulatory assurance and provide an effective, efficient, transparent, and fair environmental regulatory system. This includes the responsibility for regulating the full lifecycle of air, land and watercourse projects from initiation to closure. The Division plays a critical role in preparation, prevention and response to environmental emergencies. Enhancing connections across government, as well as with other government jurisdictions, industry, research institutions, non-government organizations and the public will be key to success. As a member of the Government’s senior executive management team, the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), Regulatory Assurance participates on broader initiatives that enhance the image of the Alberta Public Service (APS) and models the APS vision and values.

**Qualifications**

As a seasoned senior leader, you have extensive executive experience in strategic policy, program and regulatory development and enhancing stakeholder relationships. With an understanding of sustainable development, environmental issues, stewardship challenges and knowledge of environmental regulatory systems, you have advanced critical thinking skills and are known for your ability to collaborate, influence and lead change. Your excellent communication and negotiation skills will support your work to influence and collaborative with complex and diverse stakeholder groups. You are recognized for delivering positive results with your teams and demonstrate systems-thinking, project management and political acumen which are key to success in this role.

A related degree is preferred.

**Salary**

$6,035.80 - 7,921.30 bi-weekly ($157,534 - 206,745 annually)
