The Ministry of Executive Council is responsible for coordinating and supporting the executive arm of government: the Cabinet (also known as Executive Council) and its committees. Executive Council ensures effective strategic planning and coordinated policy development across government, engagement of Albertans and the broader global community, and the promotion of a vibrant and innovative public service. It ensures outcomes are achieved by supporting strategic planning, coordinated policy development and informed decision-making for the Government of Alberta, and helps ministries communicate and engage with Albertans.

**Role**
Reporting to the Deputy Chief, Policy Coordination Office and working closely to support Cabinet's Legislative Review Committee, the Assistant Deputy Minister, Legislative Review Committee will lead collaboratively and will influence policy development and support an aligned approach to government priority setting, agenda-planning, legislation, and regulation development across all ministries.

You will provide strategic legislative advice to senior government officials and you will support all aspects of the policy cycle, identify key community-related policy issues, and deliver corresponding briefings. Within the Policy Coordination Office you will also take the lead role in articulating leading policy development practices, and ensuring a focus on outcomes.

As you lead the facilitation of cross-ministry engagement, you will also support ministries in advancing policies, regulations, and legislation, by providing guidance and coordination of policy initiatives as they move through the decision making process. By leveraging your well-honed leadership skills, you will also coach and mentor branch staff to create and embrace an environment that focuses on results and future organizational capacity. A champion of change, you will inspire others to see the benefits of the envisioned result.

**Qualifications**
As an accomplished and agile leader, you will be recognized for your legal expertise, policy knowledge, consultative and systems approach to achieving results, you have a record of success in coordinating initiatives involving multiple partners and influencing decisions impacting a broad stakeholder base. Your background includes demonstrated leadership skills, including experience working with Executive Management and Ministerial levels, or equivalent. Additionally, you possess deep experience fostering stakeholder relationships and superior negotiation skills. Your demonstrated project leadership experience, superior organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with a drive for results will give you the edge in collaborating and building consensus on policy issues across complex and diverse stakeholder groups. Your strategic capacity to foresee challenges and opportunities, and ability to link key stakeholder contributions, will be essential to supporting policy direction. An undergraduate degree in law and eligibility for membership with the Law Society of Alberta is preferred.

**Salary**

$6,035.80 to $7,921.30 bi-weekly. ($157,534 - $206,745 / year)
