The Health Workforce Strategy and Policy (HWSP) branch is responsible for the development and implementation of health workforce strategies. This role is for someone who thrives in an innovative, results driven team. We guide strategic advancement of health workforce programs and frameworks to achieve a high quality, accessible sustainable health system. We collaborate closely with partners across the system and advance innovative approaches that are responsive and solution -focused to meet evolving department needs. The branch has three units (Health Workforce Data Analytics and Reporting, Health Workforce Research and Programs and Health Workforce Strategic Policy, Implementation and Co-ordination), all work collaboratively to provide the health workforce information that government needs to inform its health workforce related planning and decision making. We provide strategic and policy advice as well as manage programs to optimize Alberta's health workforce supply.

**Health Human Resource Analyst and Health Workforce Analyst**
The Health Human Resource Analyst and Health Workforce Analyst positions are situated within the Health Workforce Research and Programs unit (HWRP). They are responsible for working collaboratively, effectively, and efficiently to accomplish Unit/Branch/Division and Department goals as outlined within internal business and operational plans, while striving to live by the Department's vision, mission, and values.

**Role Responsibilities**:
**Health Human Resource Analyst**
Reporting to the Manager, Health Workforce and Education Policy, this permanent position is critical for health human resources (HHR), health education research and for gathering information from provincial, national, and international sources. This position works collaboratively with colleagues, internal/external partners, and stakeholders within the Ministry cross-ministry, provincially and nationally. This position provides leadership and expert knowledge to internal/external partners and stakeholders to support informed decisions (policies, processes, procedures, etc.) and to identify/prioritize specific issues and opportunities that support meeting provincial HHR and health education needs. The position must have a comprehensive understanding of the goals of the department, divisional objectives, as well as their specific areas of policy specialty.
- Provide information, expertise, and policy advice to senior leaders regarding issues and trends in Alberta's HHR to inform policy development and facilitate HHR and health education planning. Example issues include profession-specific matters, optimization of professional roles, inter-professional issues (such as team mix, utilization, health work environments), and HHR implications of Government strategies and other innovative initiatives (cancer, mental health, and addictions, etc.)
- Provide expert advice and feedback to HHR research grant funding proposals and projects so that they are meeting Ministry goals and objectives.
- Provide leadership in managing grant funded HHR initiatives to facilitate effective use of resources and ensure accountability for grant funding.
