**Overview**:
The HR Generalist is responsible for guiding and managing oversight of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for Fringe Theatre including daily operations, policy administration, and the humanness of Fringe staff. Reporting to the Executive Director and Finance Director, the HR Generalist performs daily administrative duties to support HR functions within the organization, while ensuring strategies, programs, and initiatives are strategically aligned with Fringe’s goals. This is a new position within Fringe Theatre’s administrative operations, and we’re excited to welcome in someone enthusiastic who wants to nurture a people-first culture that supports the evolving, creative work of our staff, volunteers, and artists.

This is a full time, permanent position. While the normal working hours for this role are Monday - Friday, it is reasonably expected the HR Generalist be available and on-call for the lead up, execution, and reconciliation of the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival every summer.

**Job description**:
The HR Generalist is responsible for:

- Managing and facilitating HR operations including payroll, benefits administration, compensation and total rewards, employee relations, performance and/or disciplinary concerns, onboarding, offboarding, terminations, training and development, and policy and handbook reviews;
- Supporting the ongoing development of a Human Resources Strategy;
- Managing programs and policies;
- Collaborating with consultants as directed by Fringe Theatre to create, modify, and implement HR policies specific to our organization and industry;
- Supporting various levels of management from Executives to front-line managers on employee-related matters including evaluation, training, discipline, termination, and other HR issues;
- Managing and facilitating the full-cycle recruitment process including the onboarding and offboarding of staff members;
- Analyzing trends and metrics to develop solutions;
- Keeping current with existing and proposed laws and regulations affecting HR practices;
- Maintaining personnel files and records of employment, as well as case management regarding leaves of absence, disability management, Work Safe, parental leaves etc.;
- Managing HR services, policies, and employee benefits;
- Alongside Executive leadership, developing staffing budgets and strategies for sustainable operations;
- Alongside Executive leadership, developing educational and training plans and programs to promote diversity, inclusion, and collaboration among employees and set diversity and inclusion goals and objectives;
- Developing and implementing programs and events to foster good company morale and employee satisfaction;
- Collaborating with the Programming Department to support the onboarding of contracted artistic workers;
- Participating in various committees (ex. Joint Health & Safety Committee, Safer Spaces Committee etc.); and
- Maintaining a close, positive working relationship with all teammates.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum five years of progressive Human Resources or translatable experience combined with post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field;
- Basic accounting knowledge required;
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation considered an asset.

**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:

- Working knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office;
- Experience developing and implementing diversity and inclusion initiatives and training plans;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Exceptional leadership skills;
- Phenomenal attention to detail;
- Willingness to give and receive constructive feedback; and
- Ability to work in
