**Technical Instructor for GROW New Entrant Program**

**Program Overview**

The GROW New Entrant Landscape and Horticulture Program is designed to train individuals with little to no experience in the industry. The program covers essential skills and knowledge to secure employment and build a rewarding career in landscape and horticulture. The training is provided free of charge to participants, focusing on practical skills and hands-on learning. The training duration is three weeks, consisting of one week online and two weeks in person on-site at various locations within our catchment areas.

**About You**

You are an experienced professional in the landscape and horticulture industry with a passion for teaching and mentoring. You have a deep understanding of the industry and are skilled in various aspects of the landscape and horticulture industry. Your communication skills are exceptional, allowing you to effectively convey complex information to individuals with little to no experience. You are patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting participants as they navigate their learning journey. You thrive in a collaborative environment but are also capable of working independently. Your adaptability and dedication to continuous improvement ensure that you provide the best possible training experience.

**What You’ll Be Doing**

**What You’ll Be Responsible For**

Deliver high-quality instruction on topics including but not limited to:

- Lawn mower operation and fuel mixes
- Hardscape installation and hand signals
- Pruning techniques
- Planting and garden maintenance
- Winter maintenance modules
- String trimmer operation
- Power blowers and hand tools usage
- Workplace Safety
- Team Behaviours
- Provide feedback on and implement lesson plans that align with program objectives.
- Provide hands-on training and demonstrations to ensure practical understanding.
- Assess participant progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and needs.
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with the GROW program team to ensure program success.
- Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, progress, and assessments.
- Support participants in overcoming barriers to employment and learning.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to enhance training content.

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience in the landscape and horticulture industry.
- Strong instructional skills with the ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner.
- Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to helping others succeed.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in landscape and horticulture are an asset.
- Experience in adult education or training programs is preferred.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and ZOOM platforms

**About this position**
- Reports to the Technical Training Lead
- Some travel to work sites and skills training will be required
- Our office is in Milton, ON at the 401 between James Snow Parkway and Trafalgar Rd

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: From $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 - 40 per week
