- The CIUSSS de l'Ouest-de-l'Île-de-Montréal is currently looking for psychoeducators to fill permanent full-time positions in its Evaluation and Orientation (EO) department at Batshaw Youth and Family Centers in Westmount.

- By working for the Director of Youth Protection at Batshaw, you will contribute to the safety of English-speaking children coming from different communities, as well as families from the Jewish community, who are struggling with issues of abandonment, neglect, psychological maltreatment, sexual or physical abuse, as well as behavioural disturbances, in addition to possible concerns regarding mental or physical health, and difficult socio-economic conditions. With the complexities that can arise, the DYP promises a challenging and rewarding experience.
- The role of the EO psychoeducator is to engage in a collaborative process and assess whether the security or development of a child is compromised. If it is compromised, necessary protective measures will be implemented to ensure the protection of the child, through adjudication, Voluntary measures or a Short-Term Intervention. If it is not compromised, with the consent of the youth and parents, the family will be referred to resources within the community, and within the CIUSSS ODIM, if necessary.
- As an EO psychoeducator, you will be involved in every step of this process. Your main activities will be to analyze and make decisions regarding the clinical and legal orientation of cases. You will also be involved in interventions with children and parents, as well as collaborating with internal and external partners (e.g. Community organizations, CLSC, hospitals, etc).- Among other things, you will be called upon to:
- Gather information regarding reports through file consultation, home visits and interviews with the declarant, the child, the family, outreach workers, etc.;
- Analyze the child's problematic situation (nature of the concerns, severity, incidence, foreseeable impact on the child's life trajectory, etc.);
- Analyze the family system, particularly the level of concordance between the family's functioning and resources versus the child's needs;
- Determine if the child's development, as well as safety or security is compromised, and the degree of risk to which they are exposed;
- Invoking immediate protective measures in an emergency (e.g. removing a child from the family environment);
- Assessing the capacity of parents and guide them to put in place protective measures that will put an end to the situation that compromises the child;
- Referring to the court system cases when parents oppose the implementation of protective measures;
- Participate, with lawyers, in the preparation of legal proceedings and representing the DYP at Court upof Québec Youth Division, when required;
- Initiate an intervention plan including, if there is a need for an intersectoral intervention, a personalized service plan based on community resources (daycare, school, community organizations, public security, etc.);
- Participate in the identification of an alternative solution (e.g. foster care, group home, entrustment to a significant other etc.) when a child cannot be maintained in their living environment;
- Preparing the family and the child for a removal from the home environment and planning the arrival in a new living environment;
- Write reports, provide professional advice and recommendations;
- Enter all information concerning the child (including the child's family) in the child's computerized file;
- Transferring the file to the Application of Measures Services by transmitting all the information relevant to the situation of the child;
- Connecting parents to internal and external resources when families require psychosocial supports that do not compromise the child's safety.
