Do you have a passion to prevent people from becoming homeless? Are you interested in joining a dynamic team of individuals dedicated to their goal of helping more Edmontonians maintain stable housing?

As a Homelessness Prevention Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for leading activities that support the Problem Property Initiative (PPI) and Homelessness Prevention program. Using a systems thinking and human-centered approach, you will address and recommend program options for homelessness and eviction prevention. You will tailor programs and services to help reduce the negative impacts of problem properties that generate public complaints and concerns for tenant safety. Additionally, you will lead the team of Tenant Supports to provide housing stabilization and eviction prevention support to individuals at risk of homelessness, and help tenants build capacity and be better informed of their rights and obligations.

- Lead, establish and ensure the success of City-funded outreach teams
- Leverage experience and expertise from multiple areas within the City of Edmonton to respond to homelessness
- Promote integration by engaging support staff in innovative problem solving and development of responses to citizen, senior leadership and council inquiries
- Implement and develop programs and services for homelessness prevention through the use of trends, data, and identified community issues
- Assess housing situations, determine effective supports for housing stabilization and eviction prevention, and facilitate appropriate connections for follow-up
- Establish and maintain positive work relationships with internal partners, other orders of government and community stakeholders including the homeless serving sector, EPS, Peace Officers, and Fire Rescue Services
- Prepare strategic documents and reports, such as Business Cases, Project Charters, Terms of References, Memorandums, Briefing Notes, and Council Reports
- Lead, facilitate and represent the section on committees and working groups from various corporate stakeholders, homelessness serving sector, and other orders of government and the business community
- Facilitate performance conversations with staff for professional development, learning, feedback, improvement, and support staff on the Tenant Support Team
- Support the Program Manager in human resource management exercises, including recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, structural changes, and layoffs and terminations
- Other related duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Human Ecology, Social Work, Recreation Administration, Planning, Public Administration or other related human services program. An equivalent combination of training and experience is an asset
- Social Work Degree holders must be registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in related work such as social and outreach work, strategic planning, etc
- Experience working in the homelessness and/or affordable housing sector is an asset
- Experience navigating levels of government, large corporations, and community organizations
- Ability to work in a proactive manner with mínimal direction and have a high degree of independent judgment, professionalism, and discretion
- Ability to build strong relationships and partnerships within the corporation, external agencies, and other levels of government
- Strong time management, prioritization and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and coordinate work to a deadline
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with multiple and changing priorities
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and facilitation skills
- Keen understanding of the political process involved in gaining support and approval of recommendations and initiatives
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Sites)
