Under the direction of the Vice President Academic and Research, the Dean of Students serves as the senior
student services officer for the University and is responsible for all aspects of co-curricular programs which
engage students in active learning, individual growth, leadership and community development. The Dean
provides oversight for programming and staff for residence, commuter, international student, indigenous
student, first year orientation, community wellness, counseling, student leadership program areas and the
student life office. The Dean also has oversight of all non-academic aspects of student conduct.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provide vision, leadership and strategic direction to the student co-curricular experience through

culture building and programs of excellence that embody and give expression to the University’s
mission, vision and values.
- Work with other campus leaders to establish a campus culture characterized by student persistence,

resiliency, inclusivity, and holistic wellness leading to increases in overall student retention.
- Develop and oversee non-academic student policies, including policies related to residence and

campus life
- Oversight of the student life budget including residence & housing, commuter program, counseling,

intercultural student program, first year orientation, and community wellness
- Serve as primary student conduct officer by overseeing policies and policies involving restorative,

developmental and punitive justice.
- Foster a culture of learning and mentorship among direct reports and student leaders.
- Receives and retains confidential information.
- Collaborate with staff and faculty to oversee and assign cases.
- Maintains knowledge of University policy and procedures.
- Participates in training that supports University-mandated changes or skill development
- Serve as a member of the Strategic Leadership Team
- Serve as institutional liaison with other postsecondary institutions
- All other duties as assigned by the Vice President Academic and Research.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Master’s degree required
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience
- Significant experience in student development and community development at a university level,
- preferably in a Christian post-secondary setting- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a part of an interdisciplinary team
- Excellent problem solving and planning skills
- Self-motivated; able to handle change positively
- Budget management skills
- Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with computer software programs including Outlook, word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher
- as well as Pharos 360 or other relational management databases preferred- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
- Training in investigation, harassment, and restorative justice are an asset
- A mature and expressive faith commitment to Christ as Lord, demonstrated in a Christ-like attitude
- A clear understanding of and commitment to The King’s University mission

The King’s University follows a standardized salary grid. The salary range for the position is $81,000
- $99,000.00/yr dependent on qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefit package, pension, and
generous vacation and time off are provided.
