Harm Reduction Satellite Site Coordinator

**Full Time contract position**
**The salary range for this role is: $55,000 to $ 57,500**
**Normal working hours for this position are between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, however week night and weekend work will be required for special events and outreach.**
**The role is hybrid (home/office/outreach) with opportunities to work at home up to two day per week.**
**Position includes paid medical benefits and RRSP contributions following probation period.**
**This position is a contract period until March 31, 2027, with a possibility for extension.**
For over thirty years, Moyo (previously known as Peel HIV/AIDS Network) has provided a growing array of health promotion, education, social and support services for people living with, affected by, and at systemic risk of HIV. Through collaborative efforts and effective service delivery, Moyo has become the leading HIV/AIDS service provider for Peel’s communities of Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon.
As part of the comprehensive range of harm reduction programs offered by Moyo HCS including The Peel Urgent Public Health Needs Site (UPHNS) and Harm Reduction Outreach Program, the Peer Satellite Program seeks to offer peer led low barrier harm reduction supports to people who use drugs in underserved communities across Peel. The program currently operates 5 peer satellite sites across the region with an advisory panel of people with lived and living experience to guide and support every aspect of the program. The Satellite Program is able to connect with people who use drugs to provide harm reduction and sexual health supplies, overdose recognition/prevention and response training including naloxone, informal counselling, and referrals and connections to support.
Reporting to Moyo’s Harm Reduction Outreach Manager, the role of the coordinator will be to oversee, coordinate and support all aspects of the satellite program including:
- Identifying potential buildings that would benefit from a satellite site through both client and peer feedback, connecting with housing providers, looking at Police/EMS/NEP hot spots through Opioid Surveillance strategy.
- Recruitment of peers
- Supervision and coordination of the Satellite Organizer
- Create/find and deliver relevant trainings for peers
- Provide peer supervision including regular check-ins, site visits, debriefing, support, making sure all data reporting is up to date, host team meetings
- Facilitate access to supports around critical incidents
- Facilitate a peer community of practice for peer-to-peer support
- Input data into NEO/OCHART/OCASE and provide program updates to supervisor
- Ensure that sites are safe and that harm reduction/OD prevention, response best practices are being followed
- Provide advocacy support for peers with landlords/law enforcement etc. when necessary
- Coordinating the ordering and delivery of harm reduction/sexual health supplies to peers and pick up of used supplies
- Coordinate peer payments and maintain program budget
- Work with advisory panel to have lived experience input in all aspects of program
- Create and administer program evaluation and ensure program is meeting funding goals, objectives, requirements.
- Participate in all Moyo staff meetings, trainings etc.
- Participate in relevant meetings, committees etc.
- Create, deliver and host presentations, workshops and events.
- Create program materials
- Work with and coordinate activities with Moyo’s Harm Reduction Outreach program
**Qualifications**:
- Post secondary education in health, social services, or related discipline.
- Proven relevant experience in supervision/program coordination in a health or social services or related environment.
- Relevant experience with program design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Experience working specifically in a harm reduction program is an asset.
- Experience/working knowledge of overdose prevention/identification/response and training in Naloxone administration.
- Experience and knowledge of drug use, specifically injection drug use.
- Experience utilizing harm reduction principles and strategies.
- Experience providing peer-to-peer support.
- Demonstrated ability to de-escalate conflict.
- Experience working in a team.
- Experience working with community stakeholders and leading meetings.
- Confidence in asserting oneself and maintaining strong boundaries.
- Knowledge of community services and resources; strong advocacy skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills including report writing and presenting/public speaking.
- Ability to listen actively and accurately.
- Demonstrated respect for diversity, equity, anti-racism, and accessibility with the ability to work collaboratively and positively with others.
- Demonstrated display of sensitivity to others.
- Open, non-judgmental, and willing to learn.
