Job Summary

Organizational Status

Work Performed- Administers one or more research projects under the direction of the Principal Investigator.- Assists in analyzing and interpreting research data by performing assembly, compilation and summary of statistical and other data.- Assists with documentation to support the lab’s data management cycle and research protocols.- Maintains a list of lab research projects.- Updates and maintains the lab’s research-related records and databases as needed, including the organization of research project files.-
- Assists with updates to online content for the lab (e.g., Lab Website, Wikipedia, social media).- Assists with updates to the PIs’ curriculum vitae.- Assists with the preparation of manuscripts and conference presentations, including formatting of manuscripts, tables and figures and assisting with PowerPoint design.- Screens and routes student directed study requests and research applicant enquiries, and provides information based on the PI’s instructions.- Maintains the CNT lab space; organizes, labels and maintains inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies and assists with the coordination and disposal of materials and equipment at end of life using UBC disposal & recycling programs.- Participates in project team meetings.- Assists with meeting/event planning and support.- Performs other related duties.

Consequence of Error/Judgement
Errors and inappropriate decisions could compromise the results of research projects, and impact the credibility of the investigators, the research results, and the quality of the research program.

Supervision Received
Works under the general supervision of Dr. Christoff. Exercises judgement in scheduling their own work, establishing priorities and carrying tasks through to completion.

Supervision Given
None, but may assist in training work learn students and volunteers on procedures and protocols.

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Psychology, Philosophy, Cognitive Systems, Neuroscience, or Engineering) strongly preferred.
- Highly effective oral and written communication.
- Ability to independently prioritize and organize workload.
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to compose clear, concise and articulate correspondence, reports, presentations and other written materials.
- Computer experience, including experience with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming languages such as Matlab, Python, etc.
- Working knowledge of literature search platforms.
- Experience with supporting grant (e.g., CIHR) preparation and the grant submission process an asset.
- Working knowledge and understanding of techniques used in Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) an asset.
- Familiarity with web content management systems (WordPress) is an asset.
