**The Opportunity**

As the Community Outreach Worker you will be responsible for responding to emerging needs of clients, working collaboratively with internal and/or external service providers to ensure effective communication, resolution of problems and successful engagement of clients with community.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide settlement & referral support as need.
- Research & track appropriate resources that address clients’ needs.
- Liaise & build relationships with community service providers, organizations and partners that will benefit clients
- Work collaboratively with YMCA colleagues in outreaching to clients and community
- Provide interpretation& translation as need (and as able) to facilitate activity delivery
- As need and relevant, provide co-leadership delivery of in community programming & activities to ensure client engagement and accessibility

**Qualifications & Skills**
- Microsoft Office skills (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook etc.)
- Experience working in a community or service centre environment
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (ability to speak Arabic an asset)
- Knowledge of the settlement sector and issues impacting newcomers to Nova Scotia
- Robust understanding and connection to a variety of community services and resources
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Experience working in a cross-cultural environment
- Effective and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
- High level of initiative and ability needed to work independently and respond to unanticipated items
- Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate client needs outside of regular business hours, as needed
