Position: Community Outreach Coordinator (Part-Time, Temporary)

Mulgrave Park Caring and Learning Centre is nestled in the North End of Halifax. We have been providing programs and services to promote healthy interactions between children, families, and caregivers in the community for over 12 years. We have a variety of resources and programs for residents and community members to get involved in.

The Community Outreach Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director.

**General Duties and Responsibilities**
- Work Collaboratively with Caring and Learning Staff to assist in community outreach and engagement initiatives to the Mulgrave Park community
- Develop meaningful relationships with members of the community to assess needs and deliver helpful services
- Address community concerns and help provide the relevant and necessary resources
- Ensure community members are receiving regular updates and relevant information that will aid in serving the community while also aligning with policies outlined by core funders
- Ensure the programs and community outreach services contribute to the organization's mission and the community it serves
- Support our social media presence to deliver and share information with community about programs and other available services and/or supports
- Collaborate and build relationships with government organizations or other non-profit groups that may serve/assist members of the community
- Create and maintain a record keeping system to track and measure the success of the Centre’s Community engagement at large. Ensure to track progress of our status regarding relationships within community.
- Provide support in developing and facilitating programming
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality when it comes to all client information and records
- Create reports for the Executive director to update status of relationships, programs and community members served
- Organize and plan regular community gatherings and/or meetings which will contribute and/or assist in the growth of the existing relationship between the Caring and Learning Centre and community at large

**Qualifications, Education and Experience**
- University degree or college diploma related to social work and/or child and youth care
- Experience working with communities facing social barriers
- Experience working with diverse communities and diversity
- Experience in providing leadership in a non-profit setting

**Professional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- Knowledge and experience with the founding communities (African Nova Scotian and First Nation) as well as Newcomer /Immigrant communities of Halifax
- Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization
- Strong organizational abilities, including strategic planning and community engagement
- Strong written and oral communication skills

**References**

**Schedule**:

- 4-hour shifts (10am-2pm - hours may vary, but will be set weekly)
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends and evening work as needed

**Note**:
**This position is being offered on an interim basis and will be effective from the applicants’ earliest availability until October 31st, 2024. There is possibility of this contract being extended.**
- **Employment Start Date**: ASAP
- **Employment End Date**: October 31, 2024 (possibility of contract renewal)
- **Pay**: $20 per hour (Minimum of 20hrs per week)

Conditions and terms of employment will be discussed with those chosen for interviews.

Contract length: 2 months

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
