**Location**: Work is what you do, not where you go. For this role, we are open to remote work and can hire anywhere in the United States or Canada.
About the opportunity
The Communication Specialist will play a pivotal role as part of Ceridian’s high-performing External Communications Team. Their primary role will be to drive awareness for the Ceridian brand, its products, and its thought leaders. They will help execute educational, inspiring, and engaging communications strategies across four pillars: public relations, awards, speaking opportunities, and social media. They will work closely with internal business units from across the organization to support the development of communications strategies, compelling communications materials, and delivery of targeted communications. The Communications Specialist is a wonderful opportunity for an early talent professional interested in PR.
What you’ll get to do
- Assist Communications team in the development and execution of a global communications strategy, ensuring integration with individual business units and corporate strategies.
- Work collaboratively with Marketing, People, Product, Sales, and other departments to execute effective public relations plans and supporting content that support specific programs and overall business goals.
- Build and foster media relationships, including those with print, online and broadcast outlets.
- Exhibit initiative, proactively recommending thought leadership ideas and tactics for forthcoming campaigns.
- Write media materials, including press releases, key messages, spokesperson Q&A, media pitches, bylined articles.
- Support the strategy and execution for HR-related awards and speaking opportunities, including identification of key opportunities, tracking, and submissions.
- Undertake detailed research for the creation of plans and maintenance of calendars (editorial, speakers bureau, awards).
- Uphold communications best practices: content, approaches and distribution vehicles.
- Support media monitoring and program measurement efforts. This includes liaising with our media monitoring provider, curating content, tracking results, and posting coverage to Ceridian’s newsroom.
- Provide support to the wider Communications team as needed.
- Work closely with and support the Senior Manager, Social Media, on executing organic social media posts and campaigns.
- Bring the Ceridian brand to life by crafting creative, crisp, on-brand social media copy, tailored to each social media channel.
- Support the creation of social media copy and management of community engagement for all channels, including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram.
- Support program measurement, including the ongoing monitoring and tracking of social media metrics.

Skills and experience we value
- One to two years in a corporate communications or agency environment.
- Bachelor’s degree (communications, journalism, English or business degree preferred); post-graduate certificate in corporate communications or public relations.
- Critical thinker and self-starter with strong organizational, research, and information-gathering skills.
- Compelling writer able to adapt styles depending on audience and communications channel.
- Confidence in social media and community management.
- Familiarity with social media software, including Sprout Social.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work well with internal and external stakeholders.
