Are you passionate about learning? Are you organized, tech savvy and empathetic? We are looking for a thoughtful and experienced individual to coordinate the Adult Literacy Program

**Description**

The Program Coordinator is responsible to work one-to-one and facilitate small group programming with adult literacy learners. The position includes working office hours at the Learning Centre to coordinate programming and help learners with literacy and advocacy related tasks, as well as planning classes, workshops and special events.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Oversee and plan all programming and learning services.
- Facilitate learning workshops.
- Source out trainers to deliver training sessions.
- Help drop-in learners with tutoring, forms, computer help and other tasks.
- Work one to one with learners for form completion, technology tutoring, intake and orientation
- Maintain statistics and program reporting.
- Create posters and other marketing materials
- Liaise with community members and conduct outreach.
- Events planning.
- Work closely with the small staff at the learning centre to collaborate on other programs and events.

**Position Requirements**

*training will be provided during the staff transition period.

**Skills**
- Must be skilled in tutoring and teaching
- Must be passionate about learning and helping others
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in using Microsoft programs
- Excellent communication skills, including patience and listening skills
- Ability to work independently, while receiving support and guidance from Executive Director.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to be compassionate and keep confidentiality.

**Professional Experience**

Experience working with adults in a learning environment would be an asset.

Experience working with vulnerable populations would be an asset.

A background in adult education or social work would be an asset.

**Knowledge**

A keen understanding of the broad definition of literacy and the issues confronting Canadian societies and Indigenous communities today.
