**Position Description**:
- SickKids Peer Support and Trauma Response is a robust program of over 100 employee peers from across the Hospital and Research Institute comprised of physicians, trainees, frontline and corporate staff, scientists and researchers. Peers provide one-to-one support and contribute to trauma response post-incident and are instrumental in the delivery of psychoeducational initiatives across the hospital. The program, which is under the auspices of the Occupational Health & Safety Department, is led by a Program Manager.The overarching contribution of the Coordinator is provision of administrative and operational support with moderate program responsibilities to facilitate response, communication and established processes.**Here¿s What You¿ll Get To Do**:
- Provide crisis intervention as needed and makes referrals in consultation with Program Manager
- Triage internal and external requests including, but not exclusively, those for peer assignment, information about the program, training or presentations.
- Coordinate peers to provide trauma response and will provide support, as appropriate as a peer,in conjunction with the Critical Incident Stress Management model.
- Assess for indicators of mental health risk and supports, redirects and refers as appropriate.
- Act as a resource for peers providing support as appropriate or redirecting to Program Manager.
- Provide coverage or back-up assistance, as needed, and in conjunction with protocols established through Occupational Health and Safety and the Peer Program.
- Collaborate with the Occupational Health Clinic and Health Absence Management Program teams.
- Contribute to data collection and analysis for program evaluation. Communicate with peers and other partners, ensuring peers upload information for statistical purposes.
- Collaborate in the development of program evaluation tools and development of content and coordination of deliverables for presentations, trainings and with projects.
- Collaborate in examining program objectives and in analysis and evaluation of program outcomes. Participate in program-related activities such as rounding and planned health and well-being events.
- Assist in the development of promotional and resource materials.
- Support research efforts pertaining to program development.
- Assist with the Peer Program and Staff Mental Health Resources website on SharePoint and alternate communication modalities.
- Participate in writing blogs, newsletters and other collaborations with the health and wellbeing team.
- Establish knowledge of the Peer Program and Trauma Response Policy, the program¿s objectives, projects and initiatives¿
- Represents the Peer Program and its mission, as needed, on hospital committees and working groups.
- Contributes to prevention through internal educational initiatives and campaigns to increase awareness about mental health including anti-stigma, equity, diversity, and inclusivity.
- Contributes to development of content and coordination of deliverables for presentations and trainings.
**Here¿s What You¿ll need**:
- Diploma in Social Service Worker with appropriate experience. Bachelor of Social Work preferred.
- Membership with the provincial regulatory body OCSWSSW.
- Knowledge and skill in mental health assessment, in particular, risk assessment.
- Experience with volunteer or peer support programs.
- Ability to positively influence and engage with internal partners.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and innovation skills.
- Commitment to practices of equity, diversity and inclusion
- Experience within a healthcare environment or part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Group facilitation skills.
- Knowledge and experience in crisis management, trauma and post-traumatic stress.
- Experience with Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) or a comparable model.
