Revenue Project Coordinator

The Revenue Project Coordinator will support the Heart, Lung, and Vascular program at St. Michael’s Hospital. This role will primarily focus on achieving revenue associated with preferred accommodations for admitted inpatients. The areas of work include, but are not limited to, outpatient departments such as preoperative and preadmission clinics, and inpatient wards. The Heart, Lung, and Vascular includes three inpatient wards, two critical care units, and outpatient areas supporting patients with cardiac, vascular, and respiratory conditions.
**Responsibilities**
- Work with unit staff to speak with patients and families about insurance status, and assist in patients’ understanding and completion of insurance paperwork necessary for accounts receivable to collect preferred accommodations revenue. Where appropriate, look for new ways to realize revenue from patients in the programs.
- Liaise with other relevant units to understand and improve processes related to revenue collection, including outpatient pre-admission clinics, admitting department
- Develops and implements mechanisms for reporting on revenue opportunities, realized revenue, and other pertinent financial and quality metrics. Maintain regular communication and reporting to direct manager regarding performance, including metrics, and any challenges.
- Works with the managers and director to implement new mechanisms of bringing revenue into the hospital, including environmental scans, understanding allowable activities, working with decision support and other analysts to understand the market for new revenue streams, and other coordination tasks related to new venture implementation.
- Visits units and works with unit staff to approach patients at optimal times
- Understands and adheres to Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) guidelines and practices by respecting posted alerts on patient rooms and following direction by unit staff
- Decides on a patient’s understanding of insurance forms
- Makes decisions about if, when, and how to make changes to processes related to revenue collection
- Makes decisions about if and how to adjust budget targets based on revenue reports
**Qualifications**
- Project management experience
- Hospital experience preferred
- Sales experience preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel
- Knowledge of Word, Outlook
- Excellent, fast, and accurate data skills and ability to organize and present data
- Excellent communication, both verbal and written and interpersonal skills
- High degree of customer service skills
- Demonstrated organization skills
- Critical thinking skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to communicate well within the organization in order to complete tasks
- Must understand and be committed to St. Michael's Hospital mission and values
- Must be punctual and have an excellent attendance record
