Trellis HIV and Community Care is looking for a confident, outgoing and organized individual to provide education and community outreach for the Community Based HIV/AIDS Programs as well as the Harm Reduction Program.

**Job Title**: Education and Community Outreach Coordinator

**Reports to**: Executive Director

**Salary**: $40,000/year based on a 35-hour workweek, 4 day compressed workweek.

**Position Summary**:
The Education and Community Outreach Coordinator supports the Community Based HIV/AIDS Programming as well as the Harm Reduction Program.

This role is multi-faceted and focuses on providing program education to external partners, by providing community-based education sessions on various issues including HIV, Harm Reduction, Safer Spaces, Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression and more. It is also focused on intentional outreach to equity-seeking communities in order to reduce or remove barriers to accessing the organization’s services. Ultimately, the objective of the role is to leverage education and outreach in order to combat stigma and contribute to a more equitable community.

**Responsibilities**:

- Create community engagement strategies, educational program, and activities to inform the community about HIV/AIDS, Harm Reduction, 2SLGBTQ+ Safer Spaces, Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression and more.
- Provide program-specific support, including assisting with coordinating events related to the Community Based HIV/AIDS program as well as the Harm Reduction Program. Help prepare presentations and/or speaking notes for team members’ public appearance in different communities.
- Serve as point of contact for community education and event inquiries and coordinate engagement activities ensuring a two-way dialogue between Trellis HIV and Community Care and its external partners.
- Represent and ensure visibility of Trellis HIV and Community Care in public forums and events across the country including events organized by industry organizations.
- Create educational content for our social media platforms.
- Capture program data and evaluate the program as per funding requirements.
- In addition to compliance with all organization policies and procedures, as a member of the Trellis HIV and Community Care team, they will contribute to the day-to-day operations of the organization.

**Qualifications**:

- One or more year experience, which includes relevant combination of education, life, and work experience and/or formal education in a relevant field of study (adult education, community engagement, curriculum development, or any related fields).
- Experience in designing programs and workshops, including social media content development.
- Experience in presenting to large and small groups, including virtual presentations.
- Demonstrated technical and interpersonal skills in developing and maintaining effective partnerships/working relationships, both in person and virtually.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, board, and diverse stakeholders.
- Passion for nurturing culturally appropriate community participation and modelling effective ally-ship within equity seeking communities.
- Commitment to social justice, diversity, equity, and anti-oppression principles.
- Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, and respect when communicating with equity-seeking communities, stakeholders, and other agencies and external contacts.
- Well organized, able to prioritize and manage time effectively, and to balance competing demands and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with databases, understanding of web site management and social media. Desktop publishing and basic graphic design skills would be considered assets
- Comprehensive knowledge of HIV/AIDS and the issues of people living with HIV/AIDS, understanding of Harm Reduction principles as well as understanding of issues and concerns of the 2SLGBTQ+ community would be considered assets.
- Must be flexible to work evening and weekends, and be able to work in a variety of settings and have access to reliable transportation for off-site events and presentations throughout the organization's catchment area.
