**Job Purpose**

National Indigenous Homelessness Council background: The NIHC leads a coalition of urban and rural Indigenous organizations to bring Indigenous perspectives into support services to better represent Indigenous and non-Indigenous needs within communities. The coalition is made up of Reaching Home Indigenous Community Entities (CEs) and Indigenous Community Advisory Boards (ICABs). As a national initiative, the National Indigenous Homelessness Council represents over 77 organizations across Canada.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the National Indigenous Homelessness Administrative & Human Resources Coordinator (1.0 FTE) will support the Executive Director in day-to-day operations.

The National Indigenous Homelessness Administrative & Human Resources Coordinator’s role will include administrative duties with some general financial and human resources duties (1.0 FTE). Role activities will include, but not limited to, a) administrative duties, including data entry, file systems management, note-taking, event admin support; b) logistics support, including meeting space procurement and travel arrangements, c) social media account management, d) accounting tasks, e) human resources tasks, and f) assistance with preparing reports, drafting policies and procedures.

**This position may require the ability to travel as needed throughout the length of the contract. Travel may require evening and weekend hours.**

**Essential Qualifications & Skills**
- Self-motivated, organized, detail-orientated, ability to troubleshoot, and deadline-driven; Ability to complete tasks within deadlines; Strict time management skills, ability to work independently required;
- Proficiency with computer operating systems and Microsoft Office tools: Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint and online meeting platforms literacy (e.g. Zoom, Teams). Experience in managing online meeting platforms for events (e.g. Eventbrite) is an asset;
- Human Resources responsibilities: Maintain data in an HR database, including employee file record keeping; Experience with HR software (e.g. ADP) an asset; Arrange and notify employees of professional development and company initiative opportunities; Support and assist in the development and enforcement of NIHC policies and procedures, hiring processes, attention to detail in contract review, communicating expectations between staff and management, and mediating interpersonal conflict; Create summaries and reports for the Executive Director; Other duties as required;
- Demonstrated experience with administrative duties: Including but not limited to data entry, template creation, note-taking, setting up file systems, postage and packaging, procuring supplies. QuickBooks software experience is an asset;
- Proficiency managing logistics: Procuring meeting space, catering, tracking RSVPs, arranging travel for the team.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills: Ability to prepare and write clear and concise communication and correspondence documents; Ability to record notes during meetings and/or community gatherings; Ability to articulate messages verbally in a professional manner, via telephone, virtual meetings and in person interactions; Assistance with preparing reports, drafting policies and procedures;
- Proficiency with establishing and maintaining social media business platforms: X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Facebook;
- Clear police record check required;
- Post-secondary education: Certificate/Diploma in office administration, accounting, human resources and/or a related field **or the equivalent combination of education, training, and life experience.**
- Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities, groups and organizations in a good way;
- Aspires to exhibit the foundational principles of Humility, Truth, Honesty, Bravery, Wisdom, Love, Patience, and Respect;
- Knowledge of and respect for a diverse national community of Indigenous peoples’ cultures, languages, arts, worldviews and ways of being;
- Knowledge of social, economic and health issues relevant to Indigenous communities;
- Knowledge of the Federal Government’s Reaching Home strategy and issues related to Indigenous homelessness;
- Knowledge of Indigenous language(s) and/or bilingualism;
- Valid driver’s license.

**Working Conditions**

This is a remote position, and the successful applicant’s place of work is at their discretion, in keeping with connectivity requirements. This position requires significant screen time when working remotely and travelling (travel as required throughout the contract with expenses
