The Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing (DMAH) promotes responsible local government and safe, sustainable, inclusive communities. Through working with municipalities, community housing providers, and the development community, DMAH contributes to a strong and diverse economy, high quality of life, and affordable, adequate, and suitable housing for all.

The mandate of DMAH is implemented through the following divisions/offices: Municipal Services, Housing, and the Emergency Management Office. We are also responsible for the new Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency, which operates over 11,000 public housing units across the province.

**About Our Opportunity**:
**Primary Accountabilities**:
You are responsible for the preparation of compliance reports related to Federal-Provincial agreements, satisfying reporting requirements, communicating the effectiveness of current programs and services and identifying opportunities for improved delivery and maximized funding. You will analyze, collate and transform data gathered from multiple sources/systems through the development of custom-built database solutions and reporting tools to retrieve select data sets specific to the relevant information required. You will also provide data analytics support to the Information Management & Business Analytics section in its advisory capacity to senior management and executive teams.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
You have a bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Information Management Systems or a related field) and five (5) years of related experience; or a Master’s degree and three (3) years related experience.

You also bring with you advanced, progressive experience as a data analyst or information management specialist; strong knowledge of and demonstrable experience with reporting and BI tools, databases and analytics tools. You are detail-oriented with superior analytical and problem-solving skills and can collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with accuracy. You also have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, including presenting solutions and results from complex analyses and reports in a clear and compelling manner. You have an awareness of emerging data analytic trends and their relevance to the public/social service sector.

Experience with the following is required:

- SQL;
- Advanced Excel with at least intermediate VBA; and
- Data Visualization & BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, SAP BW).

Experience with the following would be considered an asset:

- Python;
- PL/SQL (Oracle); and
- ArcGIS
- working with relational databases and being adept at queries and report writing.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

**Equivalency**:
An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Equivalencies include, but are not limited to:

- Completion of a 2-year diploma and 7 years of related experience
