**Job Summary**
Reporting to the Supervisor of Licensing and Standards, the Business Licensing Coordinator is responsible for the daily co-ordination and administration of the Department’s Business Licensing Program including coordinating the work and providing direction to departmental staff and the issuance of all City mobile and stationary business licenses. The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Supervisor of Licensing and Standards in drafting policies, procedures and by-laws related to business licensing and assisting the Animal Care Supervisor on animal related issues where necessary. The incumbent will assume the licensing oversight of the Supervisor of Licensing and Standards in their absence.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
**Customer Service**
- Provides information and direction to staff and applicants on Licensing By-laws and processes
- Assists MLEO’s with inspections of vehicles where necessary
- Sensitivity to personal and confidential information being disclosed by licensing applicants.

**Staff Training & Coordination**
- Trains new staff in the delivery of their duties
- Maintains a staffing schedule and coordinates daily operations to ensure full counter service coverage
- Assists with the development of performance measures and performance management administration

**Licensing Renewal Programs**
- Co-ordinates the annual renewal of all categories of licenses including renewal letters etc. are prepared, bulk processing systems are in place, and oversees renewals
- Liaisons with business owners to co-ordinate and schedule group licensing renewals
- Prepares overdue and non-licensed reports for use by enforcement staff.

**Procedural & Policy Guide**
- Provides the ongoing maintenance of documented and illustrated policy and procedural documents for Licensing and Standards Section
- Reviews new provincial legislation and existing by-laws to ensure relevancy with the Section’s policies and procedures
- Constantly reviews and researches industry practices for opportunities to enhance and streamline operations
- Performs regular audits and review of documented standards to ensure compliance and identify areas requiring review/adjustment
- Works with other members of the Legislative Services team to ensure policies and procedures are aligned with Divisional goals and objectives.

**Divisional Management Support Functions**
- Attends regular meeting with Managers and other Senior Staff to coordinate Divisional activities.
- Acts as AMANDA administrator for the development of folder and documents used within the Division.
- Assists with annual budget, business plan and performance management planning activities.
- Liaises with other departments on organizing the completion of the licensing renewal activities.

**Animal Services**
- Assists the Animal Care Supervisor where necessary with animal related projects, including but not limited to, licensing, policies and procedures, and administrative tasks.

**Requirements**:

- Undergraduate Degree or College Diploma in a related field such as law, legal administration, enforcement or public administration or related program.
- 5 to 7 years’ experience in municipal by-law environment and experience in staff coordination and training activities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of AMANDA
- Valid Class G Driver’s Licence and access to a personal vehicle for business purposes required. As a condition of employment, you will be required to provide and maintain a satisfactory drivers abstract (no demerit points plus no more than 2 infractions - maximum of one moving and one non-moving conviction).
- Knowledge of the municipal licensing by-laws, the Ontario Municipal Act and the Provincial Offences Act, and the operation of a municipal by-law department and its field enforcement and compliance related duties.
- Ability to train and develop staff.
- Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to successfully deal with conflict situations without further escalation.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Goal oriented, with a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to understand and adhere to the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and the Health and Safety policies and programs established by the City that pertain to
